Hi,
I know this may not be the best place to ask for help with a HDD but I didn't know where else to turn.

My question is,how do you find out the manufacturing date on those drives?because I know that if its Dec 2010 or later no f/w update is needed (to fix data loss bug) but if nov 2010 or earlier F/W update is needed.

I just got it today.

How can I find this on the HDD label (on the disk itself,if possible) or which tools can I use to find this out?

Thank you

It should be physically on the disk. Most tools can tell you when windows was installed on a machine (run cmd and type systeminfo) but not the exact manufacture date of some of the components.
yours should be labled in a maner similar to this model

If the bug isn't present after dec 2010 you're in the clear your drive was manufactured in month 6 (june) of 2011
