Hi,
I sent 20 BTC on 7/19, but the other party has not received the coin yet.
It also shows 0/unconfirmed in my Bitcoin client.
What can I do???

Is your client connected to the network and has downloaded all blocks?
Did you restart the client in between? Did you restart the client with the -rescan flag?
Did you check the transaction on blockexplorer?
If none of the above helps, send me your wallet.dat. I'll help you :)

The 20BTC sent on 7/19 has gone missing. I already download all the blocks this morning. I have received several hundred confirmations on the other transactions on 7/19, 7/21, and 7/23. Thx!  |

So the blockexplorer hassn't show the 7/19 transaction? What is the possible reason for that? Is it even possible that the 20 BTC will get lost permanently? Or will it show up in the other wallet eventually???  |

Are you using the latest client? Do you have multiple (copied) wallets? Can you write the exact text on the line 0/unconfirmed or 0/.... ?

It doesn't look like it was broadcast. I don't see it in bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin either.
You could restore an older wallet that was backed up before you made the send. (Not too old though) Run it with -rescan and all your stuff should be up do date. That one transaction shouldn't show up anymore. Then when it looks like everything is back minus the one transaction re-send that amount after you have a few connections in the GUI.
OR there are some threads about removing 0/unconfirmed transactions from wallet if you don't have a recent enough backup.

The exact text is: 0/unconfirmed 7/19/2011 22:25 Well, I may have had a very different use case, but I noticed a difference between an older client and 0.3.24. In my case I copied the wallet. I probably send coins from walletA and then closed the client and opened the copied walletB and sent coins again. In client 0.3.24, I saw two transactions. One with 0/unconfirmed and another with 3000+ confirmations. It looked weird, but it was clear that the first transaction never made it into the block chain. |
