If I backup the wallet now with x password and later decided to change it to y password. Do I have to use the old password for the old wallet backup?

Thanks

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Yes.  Unless you create a new backup after you change the password.  Then you can use the new password with the new backup.
