I don't doubt the fact that bitcoin will continue its general trajectory of going up for the next few decades, because of factors like increasing adoption and inflation of fiat currencies, while bitcoin's supply stays the same.

But it's definitely still bearish this year. Despite the pump that we saw late last week, it's simply not enough to reverse the bearish trend.

IMO, prices will most likely stay put or even continue to decrease throughout the year. The ceiling for price growth is quite low for the year. I think it's most likely around $12k, where the resistance was the strongest and at which level the bear market was kickstarted. I don't expect any all time highs to be broken, let alone bitcoin going to $50k. So take that article with a grain of salt, I guess.

But again, that's not saying bitcoin doesn't have a future in the long term. It definitely does, and it's a huge future.

Okay, it might have a dose of truth on his sayings, however, people are getting overly hyped with Bitcoin and all these predictions, there are literally more than 10 articles of similar content popping up every 2-3 days. How can people be so optimistic? It's perfectly okay to predict and be positive that the price levels are going to rise but $50k by December? These prices are unrealistic, at least for today's standards, just because these high prices are spammed all over the internet, people seem to believe them, especially when coming from someone who has been on the scene for a while.

I highly doubt that unless big money (banks, funds etc.) enter the market the next few months and really inflate the prices again.

Have you heard that central banks of the G7 is going to invest in cryptocurrency and this may hype the system. Other news was that the Islamic Scholars have said that bitcoin can be used by Muslim as it is not against the Shariah Law. Also Tom Lee predicts bitcoin to reach 50k$ by December. There are many developments and companies accepting bitcoin is lining up this 2018. The possibility is very high.

If that is the case, it would be great for bitcoin holders. But I think this case is very difficult to happen. Because miracles happen only once. The price of bitcoin increases sharply by the end of 2017 because many sharks have bought bitcoin and prices have risen sharply.

true but i think most of these big bullish predictions are be cause of ETF.
it is such a hyped up news that has even made a lot of the big players think it can push the price up ridiculously high like this one prediction here.
although i think it is partly true but i don't think we can see such a huge rise because of it.

Price predictions like these are a good way to attract attention and drive the price up but it is not good for mass adoption. Most newbie investors would just throw in their money once the hype starts, not caring much for the tech. As a result, they panic sell at the first indication of a bear market. That being said, it is important to make our expectations lower, healthy and realistic.

in 90% of the times these people aren't going around spreading their prediction! sometimes they haven't even made a prediction in first place. you may see some tweet comment from them saying something remotely related to price and then these shitty news sites use that to write something and call it an "article" and publish that crap.
