Yes, mining algorithm is memory bus limited which prevents ASIC and GPU (in theory).

There will be a simple qt client with mining capability released close to the launch time. You'll be able to get the very first block if you're lucky!

Waste of time if the wallet never syncs.. I added like 14 addnodes from the chats and it still cannot find a block source.

Let us know when you actually get a working model for others to try.
