If you want to giveaway coins there should be a separate place for that now.. over half the new listings in the forum are people putting info for free coins.

I believe it needs its own section soon.  I believe it is time to evolve.

Peace out.

Yeah, this alt-coin forum is about 10% actual content and the rest is just give-aways. There should be a separate sub-thread for giveaways to keep them from overwhelming actual content.

The fact that we haven't added any child boards to the Altcoin boards already says that something is very wrong.

I have recently tried to alleviate this problem with a list of currently active giveaways to stop people from bumping up the dead giveaways.

Instead of announcing giveaways, people should announce faucets... they serve the same purpose and greatly diminish unwanted traffic on the forums.

There needs to be at least two new areas I can see for sure.  I am trying to avoid one looking for the other quite often.  Here are the two I suggest.

Free Coins

Updates (for coin wallets).

This is a great idea. I would also suggest a third area for [ANN] of new coins. As these are the most popular of threads; Giveaways, Mandatory Updates, [ANN] for new coins.

I know this is Bitcointalk but this alt page needs some child boards. Including a give away one.

Yes, yes, yes!  Tired of trying to parse through the giveaways for some real content.

We could convince them by means of civil disobedience. We could go on the main Bitcoin discussion board with very tiny btc giveaways and each of us would start linking our address cluttering the page with giveaways bumps. We would obviously get moved to the correct boards (whichever those are, Bitcoin Markets maybe) and then we continue to bump and post our btc giveaways there.

If we could keep it up for even 24hrs giving out 0.0000001 for each address (giveaway amount not important) then we would get the attention of several board members and moderators. Eventually we'll get asked "why are we doing this?" and we should have a pre-planned message similar to:

Dear [board room] Moderator,

Our Altcoin board is currently being bombarded with giveaways such as these but on a scale much larger than what we've committed. We understand that opening up child boards for individual coins is prohibited however not allowing any child boards is nonsensical in our opinion. Altcoin board is debatably the largest board in the "others" section and the 4th largest board within the entire site. We could easily alleviate our problem with a child board for giveaways. Our proposition is to create three child boards for Giveaways, Mandatory Updates, and [ANN] for new coins, as these are the largest three repetitive topics made on our board. This will allow for honest content to surface amongst the clutter. Now that our problem has been brought to your attention, we will stop our interruption of your board.

Sincerely,
Altcoin Board members

I have no promise for this plan and we should ask our Board's moderator first, but this will at least send a message.

Giveaways, Mandatory Updates, and [ANN] for new coins

Well I'm not being the leader of this raid, if we are to do this then we need to be organized and independent of any one leader. It up to us to say which child board we propose but I assume we can all agree on the first being a giveaway child board.
If one of you wants to help out and create a new topic poll of 5 options, that would speed this up a bit.

Which child board would you like to see added:
  • Giveaways, Mandatory Updates, and [ANN] for new coins
  • Giveaways and Mandatory Updates
  • Giveaways and [ANN] for new coins
  • Just Giveaways
  • None

List the new topic poll here and Link this topic to the new one you just made under your first post. Then hopefully we can get these two topic on the front page for as long as possible to organize our "friendly" assault on bitcoin discussion board.

There will be no child boards.  The admins have indicated that multiple times.  The altcoin board (like off topic) sole purpose is to keep the main forums on topic.  Your request will be about as likely as asking for child boards for "off topic" because it is getting too cluttered.

I'm just not ready to use one of the alternative forums (cryptocointalk.com or altcointalk.co.uk) and I'm willing to give it a fighting chance. Plus "Archive" has child boards, whats up with that?
