I don't think it could be considered illegal since we didn't do anything to violate the law. They ban the advertisement but said that they also working to filter cyrptocurrencies ads and consider bitcoin law hasn't fully implemented around the world and facebook didn't launch new regulation about how and why we as user can't promote ICOs on facebook then i think its fine for us to promote crypto related news in facebook since the law to regulate bitcoin hasn't come out yet.  Grin Grin

It depends on the platform where ads are being broadcast, if they say that they will allow it then it is legal (in their own rules) but when they say that they will ban all advertisements related to cryptocurrency like facebook and google did, then of course all cryptocurrency exchange ads are also included in the ban. Honestly this move by facebook and google is not a bad thing because a lot of people are being scammed by those shady projects, but for me they should not ban all cryptocurrency ads because not all of them are scams or will direct you to a phishing sites when you clicked the ad, they just need to know how to separate scam ads and a good ones.

Thats legal, advertising exchange isn't illegal but you must choose where you want to advertise it, example if you advertise it on facebook thats ban crypto ads then it will illegal based on their term and rules(but i still see some ico advertise on facebook so idk, just try it and lets see if that accepted or not).

There is not enough law enforcement on the cryptocurrency section to say that it is illegal, but if we were in the regular world( not in the cryptocurrency market), I am pretty sure that it was illegal if the exchange/ICO turns to be a scam, because it's like you indirectly stole money from other people.

I think that if the exchange is well regulated( like most of the exchanges that are based in Japan), then it might be legal, although facebook blocks crpyotcurrency related ads and I believe there are more companies to follow.

the possibility of google and the facebook just doing the drama just because honestly I still often see ads on their platforms, but if they give rules to ban ads on their platforms they may want to make the platform clean and not interfere with the movement of cryptocurrency .

No. The advertising ban on certain platforms is internal. You can try to advertise with no consequence other than wasting your effort. I'm assuming you're talking about advertising on Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc. in this case. They will either not accept your advertisement, or remove it if it somehow falls under the cracks.

It may be illegal on countries that have actually banned cryptocurrencies and/or exchanges outright like China though, because you would essentially be advertising an illegal business.

illegal is such a big word for what these platforms have done. they are not law makers to decide what is legal or illegal. what they can do is to reject certain types of ads. like for example you can not advertise pornographic content on Facebook!

as for exchanges, since they fall under cryptocurrency related services you can not advertise them on either platform.

There isn't a law saying it isn't legal, some social media platforms have banned ICO Ads but not exchanges Ads I believe so you can still advertise anywhere.

I think it's okay to advertise cryptocurrency because they also get results from ads, and it's equally as profitable, because with the crypto ads, Facebook also gets results from users.

I dont think it is illegal to advertise Cryptocurrency businesses and ICO's on google and facebook. Though google and facebook made a move to banned them but it does not mean it is illegal. Also on your second question, is it not legal to advertise exchanges: advertising the exchanges is pretty legal but as I have said it will be banned by google and Facebook. The banning is not a question of legal or illegal but a question of " is it s cryptocurrency related advertisement or not". If it is a cryptocurrency related ad then it will be banned by facebook and google.

If you want to advertise on medsos, it's depend on their policy whenever they want accept or not.

But globally , advertise any bitcoin things depend on your government policy for example: My local forum decide to forbid bitcoin advertising because bitcoin consider as risky and scam investment !

I think exchanges and ICO is different thing.
exchanges sell a coins that already listed ofc, and ICO is a project that has a coin and not listed to anywhere yet

Hello, I think that advertising ICO we do not violate anything. It will depend on where we put the advertisement. It depends on the country.

advertise how? It will depend on where are you from. I'm sure that US affiliates will be forced to file with IRS and same situation might happen in other countries. But it won't be illegal.

Very few countries have gone as far as to declare bitcoin illegal. That does not, however, mean that bitcoin is "legal tender" - so far, Japan and some countries has gone as far as to give bitcoin that designation. However, just because something isn't legal tender, does not mean that it cannot be used for payment - it just means that there are no protections for either the consumer or the merchant, and that its use as payment is completely discretionary.
