it used to be but not so much anymore. it used to be challenging and fun, you would have to collaborate with group members, make a strategy, mark targets, talk about your plan. now you can almost literally roll your face on the keyboard and have all the epics. so sad what it has become. what you might consider is playing vanilla or burning crusade on a private server if you can find one with good scripting.
oh also it looks like ever-quest next is shaping up to be the first true third generation mmo. you might want to wait for that.

the thing that annoyed me about wow was that once you wiped, it took 15-20 minutes getting set up for another try. that's 15-20 minutes of just waiting around, doing nothing but chat. i found that boring.
and then if you killed some raid bosses and got some gear that was all fine and dandy.. until they release a new raid zone 3 months later, and your old gear is obsolete.

This. Now it's a game for newbies. It wasn't like that when it was first introduced.

I used to play a lot when it first came out, but after the first expansion pack was released I pretty much quit. In my opinion it's a waste of time.
It's a waste of time indeed....

Not unless you have a few years of your life to waste. I got to Lv 30 and all it was basically was doing quests to Lv up. That was a few years ago though, might of changed by now.

the grind to the level cap was always more fun to me anyways. i liked smaller 5 man groups or 10 man raids. it's amazing to me how a 10 year old game could generate $100 million per month in revenues.. the graphics are from what your average computer could run in 2004. i'm not sure about the content, but it sounds just like a rehash of the same thing over and over.

But lvling after 70 takes a lot of time.
Back in Vanilla, it took months to level to 60. I don't see your problem.

Back in Vanilla, it took months to level to 60. I don't see your problem. Unless you play everyday, it will take months aswell. After lvl 70, after lvl 80 and after lvl 85, the exp needed for the next lvl is colossal. It scales too quickly, like the best itens from the previous expansions will be useless right after you get lvl 71, 81 and 86, which means that every new Expansion kills all the grindind from the previous ones.
