There is a separate thread for reporting merit abusers.

Suspected users that are abusing merit 3.0

The thread has been started with good purpose but sadly no action have been taken against 90% of suspected accounts. (at least no red trust) Go and check yourself.
If you take no enough action against merit abusers there is no point of reporting them.

Go check the merit summary of few persons and you will find at least 5 merit abusers in less than a hour.

I have seen bunch of them. But no one can report them every time.

As a example i just found these two.

1. Chachacoin17 has been received 50*3=150 merits in very same day for typical replies. Probably merit buying.

Merit givers/sellers:

chickenado - Hero member - February 09 - 50 merits
thend1949 - Hero member - February 09 - 50 merits
marcuslong - Legendary - February 09 - 50 merits

Check their merit summery. You will find clear evidences of merit selling.

2. Merit sharing/  account farming.

Suspected accounts:
jerry29@
Naitik

I just wanted to say

Merit system abusing is happening in not only small scale but also large scale. Reporting merit abusers is not practical.

Please automate the system to watch over large chunk of merit transactions and merit giving to same person. Then moderators can further investigate and take some action against abusers.
Merit should not be equal to money.

Note

If someone(Maybe a suspected person) give me red trust because of this post please remove it.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Well, that is clear evidence against them mate.
Maybe they are tired eliminating those merit abusers here in the forum...(haha just kidding)
By the way, just wait maybe they do not notice you.

By the way great job mate, you caught them cheating on the merit system and that was probably a true reference.
There are so many obviously cheaters here in the forum just to take advantage of the ranking system.

So what is your expecting for this report??.. Grin Grin

I am also eager to see what actions are taken against such users in the future.

I would like to point out that few of the accounts that you had listed have already reported on the "Suspected users that are abusing merit 3.0" thread here :

** I do not have a sure guide **

USER PROFILE : Chachacoin17, chickenado, thend1949, marcuslong
MERIT SUMMARY : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1002351
PROOF:
Well  I agree on that bit I think we really count a year or maybe a decade before it will going to happen because crypto is not as just popular as fiat.  It's already there before bitcoin exist and we all know that many more people using fiat than bitcoin. So then even if the bitcoin is getting more popular i believe that fiat is really the most common in terms of usage .
Well i think if we are following bitcoin for a long time maybe we  really didnt think that this is the panic time because we all known from the start that bitcoin is unstable and it os really almost changing price every single our of the day and if bitcoin pricw fall maybe we dont have to panic on it because  i believe that falling of price is a big opportunity to gain huge  amount through buy and selling process.
Well, I wil choose both, to invest and to save. I will take risk to invest some of my money and I will save some of it. I will invest my money right now too because of its price going down because I know someday I will receive profit for holding my bitcoins. I will save it too for my future.
Well, it may depend on how every individual think about future but those things you've mentioned is with regards to gadgets. But the main idea here is all about the perceptions about how a person view bitcoin as their future, particularly the investors who remained brave on their stand against bitcoin. For now it seems that more people holds and trust bitcoin and I think those bigger whales stayed calm rather than those new investors. They maintained that progressive visions even though more people panicked of the latest dips of bitcoin.

You may post about "jerry29@" and "Naitik" in the main thread to see whether an action is taken or not.

I guess the only way this is going to stop is when these people run out of their sMerit then only they would suffer because only honest users would be left to give out merits for quality posts only.

Because the so called “merit abuse” is not a problem based on how the merit system works over the long term.

I agree.
But farming accounts and selling merits should be avoided. as you can see marcuslong (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=226950) is a legendary account. There may be thousands of  that kind of  accounts full of merits. They can do serious account farming.

In the other hand rule breakers must be punished. In my opinion merit sellers deserve permaban.

Because there's no use. Just time is getting wasted. The merit will decay if there's any abuse of it. So don't worry too much.
Here's theymos's stance on merit abuse or whatever:
Merit sales, transfers to aliases, back-and-forth trading, etc. are not much of an issue. All illegitimate merit will decay, and will account for a tiny and very expensive fraction of the total merit economy. It's basically a rounding error; fight it where convenient, but waste no sleep over it.

About my 5 sent merits to Tom and Jerry, lol. he was almost crying, he didn't beg and was complaining about so many unfair and high amount merit transactions. I gave him 5 merits to cheer him up. note that Naitik has received merits from other merit sources too. he is not a blatant and cheerful garbage poster trying to beat the community. second lol. I gave him 5 merits, you'll know why if you read his post. but he is not an account farmer.

Note again, this was my criteria at the time:
Do you have a reasonable and understandable post? you should get some merits for it. find a merit source and ask for a review, if they have the time to review your posts, you should get your merits. reasonable and understandable.

But I started to see more and more of these reasonable and understandable comments from variety of forum members and ranks. so I had to change my criteria.

OP has changed his/her password recently. third lol. I'd like to know if I'm misusing my source merits constantly. via PM. and I will reward you for your quality posts. @anybody else, if I have promised you merits for your reports on merit abusers. I'm really sorry, because I'm not going to hold that promise. there are too many abuse. there will be too many reports, if I merit one of the reporters, it would be unfair to other reporters not getting any merits from me for doing the same.

🖤😏
