I will pay $5 USD via BTC to the first person that posts the $1M tx located on the Block Chain. Sorry for it only being a small amount, BUT if anybody else would like to add to this bounty with another(s) $5 USD pledge, I will include your bounty in this post. $5 ain't much, so please don't commit a pledge consisting of some micro amount.

Specifically, I'm seeking the $1M USD down payment mentioned in this article: http://www.coindesk.com/bitpay-processes-1-million-bitcoin-order-butterfly-labs/

Quote
BitPay has processed its largest ever single transaction – $1 million for bitcoin mining hardware manufacturer Butterfly Labs.

BitPay, Butterflylabs and HashTrade all released press releases stating that it happened. I seek the tx and will pay handsomely to the first person who finds it.

This is really interesting. Institution? MIT perhaps? FBI ?

Im also amazed they can continue to conduct business after fucking so many customers over. If the BTC was converted to fiat then couldn't a class action go against them in the country that the fiat is held?

I don't believe that's what I'm looking for, albeit that's probably one of BitPay's wallet. Scrolling through the wallet, I didn't see a SINGLE $1M USD transaction.

Anybody care to add $5 USD to the already handsome bounty to make it a little more worthwhile for the eventual winner?

Neither one. The first one you submitted was for 11-5 and the one above is dated 11-4. We're looking for one dated prior to 10-28, probably mid October.

In the process now of downloading block data for all of October... hopefully I can find something within a couple hours.

Edit 1: I think I've narrowed it down to about 60 possible transactions between the 10th and 28th.

Transactions of around a million dollars between October 10 - 28.

October 11 Estimated BTC Transacted   7,675 BTC about $1,074,500 USD at ~$140

October 22 Estimated BTC Transacted   5,800 BTC about $1,160,000 at ~$200

There were a few other transactions between October 10 - 28 where a flat round number of BTC was spent like 5000 or 6000 but I felt like that would be unlike to occur if buying equipment from the BFL site. If anyone's curious how I picked those transactions, I wrote my method out at http://unagi.tumblr.com/post/66080791557/hunting-for-the-million-dollar-transaction

Wow! Impressive, acorn. Others should take the time and follow the above link to see how acorn attacked the task at hand.

Now, to checking to see if any of the resulted candidates is the likely tx we're seeking.

This is the one. At least per a bit of Googling -- http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/10/prweb11283333.htm

If only I had found this thread sooner Tongue

EDIT: Funny how the only [tiny] image of the BitPay receipt (that I could find so far) is paired with an article written by someone from BFL </tinfoil hat>

Because I'm an awesome guy, I'm paying acorn $10 USD and Korbman $5 USD via bitcoins. Please provide me an address via PM so that I can pay you. Apologies for not PM'ing you both for the time being, for I'm busy.

Damn, you replied quicker than I was able to post such, and I came directly here after making the payment. Thanks again to acorn and Korbman, both now paid in full.

So what information have we gained from this, if any?

Proof that an actual $1M USD transaction commenced. Now we can sit back and wait for the refund tx.  Roll Eyes

And I received mine as well, though 3 hours ago at this point Smiley
Thanks again!

So now that there's proof of a transaction, time to speculate on what drives people to continually purchase from BFL? I'm not sure about others, but if I had to spend $1,000,000 on mining hardware, I'm willing to reason I'd be able to strike a deal with 2 or 3 other developers other than BFL...
