Hi there guys i'd like to share to you my friend's experience when this merit system is implemented.

I had a friend with the rank of jr member like me, he is having a hard time getting merits. So what he did is buying a bitcointalk account having a greater or higher than member account for the sake to get a high pays on bounties.

what is your idea about this buying accounts because they are having a hard time to get merits?

It depends on the posts - they will need to be reviewed. What is the name of the account you he bought?

Sales of btctalk accounts is kind of prohibited and a lot of people end up getting negative trust for that if found out.  Sold accounts, for the most part, are always linked to scams, imposters and fraudulent transactions.

I will not talk about your friend finding it hard to get merits because that is an over flogged issue on this board!

I think buying or selling any kind of bitcointalk account is illegal.  If you try to buy any bitcointalk account you may face to cheated. Because it is prohibited  to buy or sell bitcointalk account. Even you may get neg trust for this activity.

It's not against the rules but definitely not encouraged. As for knowing when someone sell/buy an account, It's possible. One can keep an eye on the seclog[1] and see when someone changes his password and check his posts history. The writing style, the sections where the member used to be active etc. are likely to change. In most cases, this means that the account either got hacked or sold.

Yes, I might not know but one day the owner will not cover his tracks well and he/she will get exposed. With the ever increasing complaint of accounts being hacked, it is enough cause for worry over the sale of accounts.

If one account has been sold or bought, many especially DT members can track your post history and in that way they can detect if one account has been sold or not. Most probably the one who bought the account will not be the same as the original user in terms on how he/she posts. There are many suspicious account already that has been known to be sold with the help of the post history of the account.

If you checked the accounts that have woke up written next to it you will find that this accounts was not active for  long time ( sleep ) and just started to login or be active again now ( woke up ) .

This is really helpful, a lot of Legendary and other high-rank accounts have been Hacked and used for Scams.

Most people don't use escrow or cross-check the credentials, which they should.

Buying and selling accounts is not prohibited by the official rules of the forum, but it's still a bad thing, and if they find out that the account is purchased from another user, they can paint the trust in red.
