Well nearly all altcoins move with bitcoin in this nightmare-ish markets. Its more about showing market hope. People cannot believe other altcoins unless bitcoin reach meaningful price. Ethereum is no different. It depends on btc..

I don't think so and if there is any doubt then that will be cleared within a year as Ethereum is growing big at a fast pace and there is nothing getting in its way. All the tokens being developed on its platform are giving it enough value that it will decouple from Bitcoin and have its own price movements.

not only ETH but everything.
if Bitcoin price goes up significantly, everything should be dumped heavily because people will exhaust their money to build the support and breaking the resistence.
and if it goes down significantly, everything will be dumped too because people afraid it will lose its value.
in other words,we can not deny it.
it was an everything for altcoin, because we are valuing altcoin using Bitcoin.

The entire crypto market is based on the price of bitcoin, if the price of bitcoin goes down, the entire market will follow the downward slide and it is hard to predict how long these uncertain market situation continues, so my advice is to invest in the coins in moderation, if not if there is a sudden negative news there is a chance it will go down further.

If you look at the last run up with BTC, ETH lagged behind a week or so. You can overlap the two on a chart and see it.

I do think in general, most crypto's will follow BTC as that is the defacto standard crypto.

Not at all. BTC price also can affect to ETH price but it's not the only thing can affect to ETH price of something like that of ETH. You should know that cryptocurrency news also has great effect on cryptocurrency and ETH is not an exception. Beside I think ETH has it own blockchain and I don't think ETH movements will depend on BTC Grin

Of course, everything depends on bitcoin, he is the father of all the crypto currency. I think sooner or later the cue ball will return to the shadows, and then the air will come first. this will happen in 5 years.

Atleast as of now ETH price is directly or indirectly dependent on Bitcoin's price. This might change in the future when more number of ETH based exchanges are introduced. Fiat to ETH and alt to ETH Paris.

Yes every coin is depends on bitcoin. Bitcoin is like crypto index and a lot of coins are pumped with bitcoin. When poeople see that bitcoin is going down they sell their alts into btc and alts dump.

I am always trading, and i can confirm this.

Ethereum depends on Bitcoin, and almost all the other altcoins depend on ethereum, but when there is a dump, most altcoins grow up in terms of btc value.

I also noticed this trend, as soon as Bitcoin begins to fall, the entire market immediately begins to fall, so it should not be.

There is some truth in the fact that the ethereum price depends a bit on bitcoin

Ethereum can increase own price without bitcoin, this coin has big potencial with own technology so we can see bigger price even when btc will not bigger

I think the ETH rate more or less depends on the exchange rate of BTC. As the exchange rate of the BTC decreased, the exchange rate of ETH and altcoins decreased. But ETH rates are not entirely dependent on BTC, there are many situations where BTC rates increase, and ETH falls and vice versa because people's investment needs only focus on one crypto at the time.

I think the main reason is not the dependence of Ethereum on Bitcoin, but the fears of investors and traders, with the redness of the market. And they run to withdraw funds to Fiat. In addition, the news that causes the fall affects not only Bitcoin.

The recent increase of the ethereum value is giving a real evidence if ethereum movement is no 100% depends to the bitcoin. It's only following the trend and bitcoin too. But look at the market and how ethereum gets another jump while bitcoin it's not. So you can try to take a conclusion about that.

It is true that Ether price is implicitly directory proportional to bitcoins price that is why when bitcoins turn green Ether and other alternative currencies also turn green and vise versa.

If we based on what happen for the last few months. We can conclude that the price of ethereum depend on bitcoin. Because everytime bitcoin drops the value of ethereum drop too.

Yes I agree at first I dont want to believe that ethereum is dependent on bitcoin so I actually invest more on etherium rather than bitcoin because bitcoin on 1st quarter of 2018 is so pricey , and then boom right now I am also at lost because of series of dumps on bitcoin that happen last quarter , I just hope that in the future eth will not depend on btc anymore.
