To increase the speed of the blocks downloaded to the wallet, perhaps, sometimes in the future Bitcoin will need compression technology to compress the blocks from the network and decompress them after they arrive at the user's wallet.

Compressing and then decompressing at the other end will likely take longer than sending without compression, not to mention the overhead it brings which would hurt mobile devices.

There isn't much room for compression. Hashes and signatures are high entropy data.

I believe that i read an article on this some time ago, that bitcoin would drop certain obsolete chaindata once it reacher a certain age, it will not delete the whole thing but it should somehow stop the blockchain from growing to insane amounts

Define 'obsolete'  in this context

Is there a way to have the chain in check without having a part of it (e.g. download only chain from 2012- till the present)?

That might be a good idea. But, problem is without downloading it you have to "trust" in "central government" or "the network" if you know what I mean. Nobody trust in the U.S. government now, because U.S. government have been contaminated (infiltrated) by the 13 terrorist bloodlines of the devil worshipers cult illuminati.
