The newest idea is that Gaddafi is now cooperating with the Islamists, if you wish to believe the MSM.

You have got to stop getting your geopolitical information from Gaddafi's fax machine.
The events in Libya show how irrelevant the base is not an example of it's growing power.
Gaddafi is a corrupt dictator who's crimes have caught up with him. Nothing more.

Firstly, Libyan rebels are not Al Quaeda. The are Libyan rebels, of a rather mixed composition, which means that they might have a few Al Quaeda operatives among themselves too... just like the US armed forces are likely to have, as if it matters, since it's pretty unavoidable! :P

Second, the Libyan rebels are certainly a promising candidate for states to establish diplomatic relations with, since the ports which happen to be located in areas controlled by rebels, do export a few barrels of oil... which sort of makes other states want to get cozy with them...

...and third: they are certainly a bit more legitimate on whatever scale (even my anarchist scale) than a dictator who has ruled 40 years.

Thus, what's the biggie?

And finally, a specific question to TheGer... do you have an ulterior political motive in depicting them as Al Quaeda? What benefit does a mis-characterization of this magnitude bring you? Where's the catch?
