As you all know, you can only join one signature campaign at a time. I was wondering what's preventing people from creating campaigns that incentivise forum members to display an additional footer in their posts at the bottom?

You can probably already see that this could potentially become pretty messed up. Once someone catches on to the idea that you could basically pay someone to manually add an additional footer to every post, we could be seeing signature ads getting stacked up. Of course, this is a purely hypothetical scenario, but I'm actually surprised that this hasn't been attempted yet.

I would argue that there is still certain value in an additional footer advertisement, obviously with lower rates than a dedicated spot in the signature. Is it currently not a thing because existing campaigns have a rule to prevent someone running multiple campaigns or is it just something no-one has thought about?

The title 'Opening Pandora's Box' was chosen because I think that, once we start allowing campaigns like that, it would probably never end. You'd have 5 tiers of ads under every post and the forum would go to ****. It wasn't my intent to give anyone ideas Tongue I was just wondering why anyone hadn't thought of this before. You can give me reasons why! Wink

You can't because of this:

24. Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.[9][e]

This would be considered spam, and it would violate the rules, potentially leaving your account to get banned. At the very least, your posts would get deleted.

Thanks for the quick replies. Good that it's a non-issue then and that it isn't something that mods have to worry about too much.
