I think that Ether and many tokens have a strong coupling with Bitcoin in terms of price and I think that it should not be this way if we look at value objectively. Do you see signs in the market of these coins being finally diverging in value?

It is not the time for bitcoin to break, the falling price is normal because the market is unstable. Bitcoin will increase again, we just need to be patient to wait for the increase.

Agree with your opinion. It's not quite right when absolutely all the top coins depend on the price of the bitcoin. Simply bitcoin is like a currency (like a dollar) and it trades in pairs with each altcoins. But that's not right because the project produces a serious release and the price falls due to bitcoin. This issue needs to be resolved somehow

Nope. Overall the entire crypto market is still being led by bitcoin's price movements.

Ethereum will still show strong signs of growth when bitcoin price grows. Historically Ether has outpaced bitcoin in price growth when bitcoin has gone up, but also outpaces bitcoin's losses when bitcoin goes down.

I don't see a decoupling or a halt in this price relationship any time soon, unless Ethereum goes a completely different route to bitcoin.

Overall, I don't see neither bitcoin nor ethereum to perform strongly this year, but I think it makes a good time to start buying those coins.

The entire Cryptocurrency market is dependent on the value people placed on Bitcoin and from my point of view, this won't change until when Cryptocurrency gets high acceptability such that exchanging any Crypto to Fiat becomes easy.

Thats true, Bitcoin is still the top in the crypto and the price of Bitcoin is still the benchmark of other coins. If Bitcoin decreases then other coins will also fall.

I agree with you, that alt movement is still affected by bitcoin. We see that many alt are updating or launching its products, but still can not make their project to rise. Bitcoin is still an indicator of whether the market will rise or fall.

Why is ethereum price so down drastically than bitcoin?
I think because there are many problems with projects that use the ethereum platform and also the scam ico that happened lately.

The price fall seems to be a great opportunity to invest. If the price kept on rising, bitcoin or crypto currencies would have lost its worth. So, hold your coins or buy it because the price of bitcoin is going to increase very soon.

I think you should understand the intrinsic value of bitcoin.
I think the future bitcoin is likely to become an international currency.

Theoretically yes they can break apart but realistically it is not possible as currently almost all altcoins go up and down with the bitcoin movement.

Well, as what I have observed now altcoins price are based on bitcoin price movement, they are really relative to each other then when bitcoin down and next follow is altcoin. We should help bitcoin not to going down because altcoin and bitcoin are both profitable when it comes trading. So, hopefully this happenings now that the market was at lowered price it will be back soon.

Of course not, how can bitcoin break when prices begin to fall, I'm pretty sure that bitcoin prices will soon increase because for me the price reduction in bitcoin world is normal...

Bitcoin is hard to break, but Ethereum is possible. Ethereum has high potential now to increase it's price.

That's only on the dollar value. In fact that the bitcoin still become the main pegged for the majority of crypto to reach the dollar value or to determine how the price of every altcoin in the dollar value. The dollar price of majority altcoins is following the bitcoin. In conclusion, if bitcoin goes decrease and then we are loosing on the dollar value.

If what is driving the movement is news about a specific token then it will move by itself, when the news is about cryptocurrencies in general then it will affect them all. Unfortunalely we are in a part of the evolution of cryptocurrencies where attempts by government to regulate them are what is driving most of the movement.

it actually SHOULD be this way if you look at them for what they really are!
and that is a bunch of names on exchanges that you invest in, in order to make a profit on your bitcoins and money. and as long as their TRUE purpose is not changed, their connection to bitcoin price is not going to change at all. they will remain pump and dumps that traders abuse to make money.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Bitcoin has amazed them all, so they still depend on his course. Once all the coin is settled and the whole projects are launched in the world, then everything will work out.

I doubt that would happen, that's just how the market works, altcoins always follow bitcoin. The only time I see that they are not connected is when the market is stagnant and some altcoins get pumped, but that's just too random.

The trend today might be a good test for ethereum to step above or behind bitcoin in a different way. Bitcoin is now going low at the bottom. If the graph marks differently then maybe we can say it is independent but if not then surely it still is in the shadow of bitcoins
