I want to purchase LTC (litecoins). Anyone know of an easy way?

Someone told me to exchange BTC with LTC and that that's the quickest way. Where can I exchange BTC for LTC?

So how does cryptsy.com work? Do I upload my BTC there and find a trader to trade for LTC?

How long does it take to obtain my LTC?
