Did anyone hear about this new hardware wallet for iOS, Android and mobile devices? It's brushed aluminium and weatherproof
There is a third party exchange within the XEEDA App to exchange your coins as well a biometric scanner
You can store Bitcoin but not only, Zencash and some others as well

XEEDA is designed with a focus on accelerating the adoption of cryptocurrencies. XEEDA offers premium security without sacrificing ease of use. Your smartphone is something that you take with you everywhere. XEEDA is designed to easily connect to your smartphone and enables you to secure your digital assets. Unlike other hardware wallets that only work with your computer, you can make secure transactions anywhere and anytime using your smartphone and XEEDA.

In order to make a transaction in Bitcoin, you need to sign that transaction with your cryptographic key. Your cryptographic keys are stored in a secure hardware environment in XEEDA’s hardware wallet. Every time you want to initiate a transaction in the Bitcoin network, you can securely confirm the transaction using XEEDA.

Seems convenient, but I'm not sure if I trust my phone more than my desktop for MITM attacks on hardware wallets. Plus, the ledger nano s has already been able to connect to phones. (Mycelium can do it with a usb on-the-go connector)

Never heard about this hardware wallet for smartphone and I think not all smartphone are OTG supported so only selected wallet could use this wallet.

Additional for above my post, not only ledger nano s could be used in mobile also, Trezor wallet could use in mobile and connect to mycelium wallet via otg cable.

Anyway, for safety, always use a hardware wallet, which is tested by many people like ledger nano and Trezor wallet.

Xeeda wallet is new and we don't know if it's actually safe or hackable or high secured wallet. Since it's new, there is a possibility that this wallet still had many bugs.

Disappointing that you have to buy an "iOS"- specific device (ie. Lightning connector) or an "Android"-specific device (ie. MicroUSB)...

- How does XEEDA connect to my mobile device?
XEEDA comes in two versions; one with a lightning connector for iOS devices and the other with a micro USB for android devices. At the time of purchase, you can select the XEEDA with the right type of connector.

Would be good if it was multi platform with adaptors or something, as your hardware wallet suddenly becomes useless if you swap from one platform to the other Undecided

This is also a little disconcerting:
Quote
- Is XEEDA code open source?
XEEDA code is not open source. However, we are planning to release the code on our website in May 2018 so researchers can view and report on it. XEEDA is an ecosystem. The mobile app works in conjunction with the hardware OS. Clones of XEEDA will create problems and confusion for the end user.

The website looks really nice, I will give them that. I don't want to jump on it and call it fake or a scam because I don't feel like that's fair. But there's just so many websites out there that look like this (Here's a cool product that promises a lot, and a pre-order button!) that I don't know what to trust anymore. If there really is an actual team behind this then it looks cool. But I have my doubts.

@RGBKey
I own a Ledger and believe me I didn't know it is possible to use on a smartphone device and have no idea how to do since it needs a USB cable (?)

@BitMaxz
Yeah, but we must give a chance to any new service/product, more we have more it makes the crypto adoption possible. Most of the people find not easy to use Bitcoin so providing a friendly product help with this.

@karel88l
I searched for but didn't find a photo of the prototype, but apparently, it's a project that started in December 2017 and it was taking pre-orders beginning in Feb 2018. So I am going to believe if it was to set up a scam they should have started already and we would have heard about

Anyway I will buy it still to test, I'm looking for a new toy.

You can use a usb on-the-go adapter which converts a male USB type A to a male micro usb. You can plug the cable from your ledger into the adapter, and into your phone. More info is here

Well, I just wanted newbies and others to aware what could possibly risk can happen if they use unknown hardware wallet.

If you can afford to buy and ready to risk your money why not and give us a review about this hardware wallet so that other people know how this wallet works and what are the differences of using this wallet than the other hardware wallet.

The idea is nice but would be really hard if they want to compete with ledger and trezor since their product is already great. But if they manage to come with a good working product than they could have a big market since there are a lot of people who are using an iPhone or Android based mobile phone.

Found this picture on Twitter and it looks like the guy is having one in his hands.

Awesome... Always good to have new players bringing new products. Competition generally drives innovation and is usually a good thing for the consumer.

The fact that they're fronting up at live events is also a promising sign.

Will be interesting to see if it is compatible with other wallets or if you are required to use their app.

Has anyone been able to find any ballpark info on release date? I've only see that they're taking pre-orders... but not much info on an actual release date? Huh

Just to be clear, you don't need to buy the ledger branded one. I use the samsung USB-OTG adapter that came with my phone and it works fine.

As above, you can use your Ledger and maybe Trezor already. The only difference here is the inbuilt USB connection.

In a decade or two I can well imagine most phones, tablets and computers having some sort of integrated hardware wallet. All it is ultimately is a separate chip.

Yes but imagine for your daily use. With a Ledger, will you be ok to have in your pocket a cable permanently? I am already moaning when I have in my pocket, the keys, the wallet, the ID card, cigarettes, phones, in 10 years men will need their handbag  Cheesy

There is also something good about it inside, the third party exchange.
As for the idea of an integrated hardware wallet into the phone, I would say it's a good idea. What about branding a crypto smartphone? Grin

Never heard of this hardware wallet for smartphones and I do not think all smartphones are supported by OTG so only the selected wallet can use this wallet.
You can use the USB on-the-go adapter to convert a male USB A into a male usb microphone. You can plug the cable from your ledger into the adapter and onto your phone.

Keys are the most commonly lost item in the world. I definitely wouldn't buy a $150 keyring. Besides, plug and play system I believe are more bound to lose than an attached phone case. You would rather mourn your $150 hardware wallet lost than a $150 hardware wallet lost with a $500 mobile phone. Checked out for a hardware wallet as phone case. Found https://cypherock.com. I am waiting to get on their pre-sale.

There's a simple, money saving and life saving solution to this. Stop smoking. Cheesy

I for one would likely never use a hardware wallet on my phone, because I do not see the point of carrying a hardware wallet around with me, and certainly not bringing it out in public to advertise the fact I'm carrying it around with me. I have a small amount of coins stored in a software wallet on my phone for daily use/payments as required, but my hardware wallet stays in a secure location most of the time.

Grin

No hardware wallet is wieldy enough to pay that hooker for rapid hand relief in an alley on your way back from getting some milk. You have to noodle around hooking it up, inserting pins, finding apps. By that point her pimp has your pin and you're toast.

I'm happy enough with spending money in a phone as is. The world wouldn't end if it was hacked somehow.

Checked out for a hardware wallet as phone case. Found https://cypherock.com. I am waiting to get on their pre-sale.

They lost me at:
GPS ENABLED
If it get's lost, you can track it
Ummm... NOPE! That seems like a terrible idea privacy-wise...

Effectively, they've taken what looks like the hardware for a Trezor, and "shoe-horned" it into a phone case (fairly roughly too I might add). It is still effectively just a USB hardware wallet using OTG connection... with the added "benefit" of NOT being able to use it on your desktop/laptop looking at the connectivity.

Also, one wonders what sort of phone compatibility they're realistically going to be able to provide... the shear number of devices with all different sizes/shapes make this a tough proposition. Good luck to them!

Anyone have used this already?

But I don't think it is a good idea because we don't know the reliability and durability of the hardware wallets, normally the gadgets for the mobile device won't last long much longer so better keep an USB hardware wallet than this in my opinion.
