As I wrote in time, I began to write a android app for this forum. Now its time to release a version from this.

It is in alpha stage (there may be bugs in it), but it is possible to use  Smiley

Market link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.elbandi.forum.bitcointalk

Or you can download the latest apk from here: https://elbandi.ci.cloudbees.com/job/BitcoinTalk/

Here are somescreenshots:

As I wrote in time, I began to write a android app for this forum. Now its time to release a version from this.

Hey thank you very much. I'm trying it and it's very handy.  Cheesy I thought it would be less usable for being an alpha, but it already works very well. Congrats

If I may, here are some ideas for future versions:
  • An option to refresh the current view (board / thread)
  • An additional option in preferences for going to the last read message when visiting a thread. Now you can only choose to go to the first page (default) or the last page.
  • To show the "first/prev next/last page" control bar in the header too.
  • An option to hide the titlebar and/or to make the app fullscreen.
  • To distinguish the quotation blocks with a different background color, for example, now they are indistinguishable from the real reply.
  • Now when you are a newbie and don't have permission to post in some board/thread the app still shows the reply box and lets you send a message, without a warning that it wont work, or a notification that the message couldn't be posted. (In the complete website the reply link just doesn't appear if you don't have permission)

Great. Will install it once it has matured some more (add your donation address as QR code to start post).

Edit: why does it need access to secured storage?

There is a caching for image, that files are stored on sdcard.

Not to dig up an old thread, but on my Galaxy S3, the main page is just blank white space.

The buttons (profile, new posts, watchlist, etc.) are there, but then just white underneath it.

I'm able to view my profile page, however.

So why not an official app for bitcointalk? Every forum has one, or at least include it in Tapatalk. Any moderator watching this?

You should post about it in the Meta forum. Or the New Forum Software subforum in Meta.
As I remember, it's already in the talks for the new forum software.

I've tried this app, and doesn't work well, doesn't display content properly. Unfortunately, we should be patient and wait for Epochtalk...

Thanks for the app. Just downloaded and will be testing in the days to come.

Nice to have an app for this forum instead of using a browser on the phone.

As like every other third party application, none can say what will happen with any data transferred through the application, including authentication process, general-data input, r/w access to local storage, and so on and so on. As long its not a official application and not open-source, nobody can answer this question. One first test can be sniff packets from the application to look if its uses secured sockets connection or not. Really hard testing include hexa-debug of application and memory-analysis.
