Crazy! He evaporated into thin air If you guys know him, tell him thank you. I'd bet my bottom satoshi that he's active here but under a different SN. Look for users registered on that date he stopped posting. Someone who just creates hugely disruptive technology doesn't just "forget about it" cause you know...this is his baby. I'll also venture that no one really cares - If they did, there would be a bounty to reveal him by now.

A regular member? Man, the curiosity is killing me . But still, there are many people trying to find his identity.

casascius and Mike Hearn both registered the day after Satoshi left. Prime suspects Edit: don't bother asking. They're not Satoshi!

He can sign a message with his PGP key. Incidentally, Satoshi's PGP key is still quietly hosted on this forum site, behind the forum itself (though I've lost the URL link -- here's another http://bitcoin.org/satoshinakamoto.asc ). In my own BTC shrine, I keep the file safe and local, awaiting his return to lead us into the promised land.

As the original poster of this thread, I want to say I totally respect Satoshi's desire to bow out when he did. Adam Levine on Lets Talk Bitcoin (podcast) aptly pointed out the other day that he believes the decision was made, at least in part, because some very powerful organisations, people, and international structures may be utterly abolished by Bitcoin. It quite simply would not be a desireable thing to be the name and the face they all point to when it happens. I get it. Not sure he was thinking that far ahead when he made it. There's no telling if he "knew" what would come of Bitcion, or if he's sitting there utterly amazed himself right now. But you'd have to be a fool to realize what this technology is capable of doing, and plaster your face all over it. More importantly, Bitcoin is, by its very definition, decentralization. There shouldn't be a single point of origin for it. Its everyone's. We all own it. We are all creating its success. That much I am sure Satoshi thought about when he exploded into pixie dust. In any case, I hope this thread isn't viewed as an irritating "drawer of attention" to sniffing him out. I was just excited to read his posts and analyze his thinking processes in various discussions. Thanks all.

Probably best he stays anonymous, anything and everything in his past would be used to discredit bitcoin. Got arrested once at a protest? 'Bitcoin was invented by a TERRORIST'.
