Would be a huge buy-in if a major porn outlet starts accepting bitcoins.  Someone on the forum is already reselling Reality Kings... I wonder if he is an authorized reseller.

I'm not a prude by all means but this will be a turn-off to a lot of people. You may want to consider having another click through page with an explicit warning before entering. With that said, I don't know if I would be putting that on the front shelf if at all.  Not too excited about your site now becoming a porn site. I liked to send a lot of people to spendbitcoins.com but now I'm not so sure. Just my 2 bitcents.

It now seems like you're trying to be all things to all people. I think it would be better if you created a separate porn site with its own domain name. Keep this one family-friendly please!

I apologize for the rambling thoughts but, if you offer porn on spendbitcoins.com, there will be room for someone else to open a family-friendly buying site that will take a portion of your customers. There's a time and place for certain things and I think your site is a bad place for porn.

Amazon sells sex toys and yet they're still considered a family friendly retailer. I will agree that the adult part should be more hidden or a warning page given, but I don't see how this would tarnish the quality of the site in any way.

Correct, but on Amazon it's not "in your face" - you have to search for it. Just from a pure business standpoint I believe this will cost spendbitcoins.com customers. Who knows? Maybe they'll gain more than they'll lose. I would definitely recommend a family-friendly competitor over spendbitcoins.com if Jeremy keeps it the way it is. This is too bad, especially after the great coverage he received on The Bitcoin Show.  Sad

Spare us the puritanical hypocrisy. This is business. Keep going strong Jeremy, your site is fantastic.

I'm speaking strictly from a business point of view. I believe this will hurt his business.

Don't forget that the porn industry is part of the reason why we have VHS and BluRay instead Betamax and HD-DVD. The porn industry is often the trendsetter when it comes to emerging technologies becoming prevalent.

If someone can get clips4sale.com to accept BTC, it could be HUGE (no pun intended).

Okay, I've taken it off the shelf and just put a link in small print beneath the bottom shelf which leads to a warning page. Is this a good compromise?

Unlike the other guy, I AM a puritanical Bible-thumping evangelical porn-hating Christian (really), and while I'd rather you not have an adult section at all, I appreciate that it is not prominent.

sex toys for btc is a great idea. not many people want that stuff popping up on their creditcard/banks.

would be nice if you offered more information on the site though. like model type, etc. my girlfriend wants me to buy her some...

I'd like to see the adult section bigger.

Rather than use a link - a checkbox that puts the adult content back on the shelf and a pop-up div warning would be better.

Also in some situations always show adult content:
Store a uniquely identifying cookie and remember the status of the checkbox
Check to see if a user has viewed adult sites using something like:

Jeremy West:
I appreciate competition! Grin
I thought about creating such a dirty site for bitcoins too (see my signature). But more like a signing up service to other sites.
Like some others already said, i wouldn't add that type of business on your family friendly spendbitcoins.com either. Amazon sells porn dvds too, ok, but they operate on a slightly different scale and porn dvds are just a snippet of snippet of snippet of what they sell. Since you are building up a real porn site(selling directly downloadable videos), i would rather create a dedicated site for that. Something really naughty, you know...

sex toys for btc is a great idea. not many people want that stuff popping up on their creditcard/banks.
Exactly this! If you create the mentioned dedicated adult site, you should try to get some real sex shop involved or sell vouchers for sex toy sites.

nowadays who pay for porn?  Grin
Plenty of people do! To give you some numbers: x-art.com +30,000 paying members each month, videosz.com +37,000, pornpros.com +60,000 , incrediblepass.com +75,000, scoreland.com +100,000 , realitykings.com +360,000 and these aren't even the biggest and represent only a fraction of the market. Plus plenty of online sex shops, live cam sites and an endless number of amateur sites with 1 to 3000 members. There are even people who pay for gayasianpiss.com (be warned, this site keeps what the domain name promises)

Someone on the forum is already reselling Reality Kings... I wonder if he is an authorized reseller.
That would be me, I am an authorized reseller for that and other sites, otherwise I couldn't offer %20 discount(and more) on signing up. Wink

I'm not a prude, but from a business sense having the Adult section not on the front shelf is a good idea. BTC for porn is fine.
