don't get me wrong, facebook probably helped a lot during the arab spring to connect and rally the masses, but in the future western authorities know exactly where to put the thumbscrews when facing uprisings by society.
The ongoing observation of these networks make it very easy to see early disruptive developments and take measures against escalation.

Like every technological development, there's always two sides.

Doubt that actually helps. If you wanna have sex, go to those adult online dating websites who, actually, collect even more private data.   Cheesy

dating websites are a sausage fest. Facebook is the only true dating website.

i don't get it how people voluntarily share their personal info/habits with a private company solely concentrated on profit maximization while ranting on observation policies by authorities.

to have sex?  Roll Eyes
This would be one way of looking at it.  Cheesy

the deeper the needs the more info you're willing to share

This is true and also the sex part! I have a few friends that are forever meeting people through Facebook and then to only go on a 'date' of course!

It's better to have no facebook at all.

Exactly.
Or keep a friend list ~50-100 at most.

Everything? Keep 1-2 pics, 1-2 month old posts, incorrect b-day, address and all.

The pics can identify you and if you took them with your smartphone they could even tell facebook where you took them (with exif data). Depending on the content of the posts, they still could be used someway to find out some of your interests.
