Wordpress - How do I expand the header widget area? - Paying BTC

My theme has a header widget area, where I can put a text widget with HTML code for an image ad. The problem is that there is a size limit to the widget, and bigger images will be resized smaller.

I want to expand the widget area to place a bigger ad. Can anybody help?

Responsive means compatible or "looking/feeling good" in both desktops and mobiles.

If you want to set up adsense you can simply download a plugin

The video you linked me explains how to put a HostDime affiliate banner ad into the header.

I need to use my own banner images. Not adsense, not HostDime.
