Peercoin has recently hit the 50 cent barrier in direct PPC/USD trading at Crypto-Trade:

https://crypto-trade.com/trade/ppc_usd

Coinmarketcap lists its price even higher, based on the PPC/BTC and BTC/USD prices.

Now dollar parity is not very far away, although at Crypto-Trade there are some large walls. When do you think PPC will reach dollar parity?

My guess is: in December 2013 or January 2014.

What do you think?

Update: At November 19 and 21, the combined PPC/BTC and BTC/USD rate surpassed 1 USD. In direct trading at some exchanges also the 1USD value was hit, although with very low volume. At crypto-trade.com, the major PPC/USD exchange, it hit 0.99 and dollar parity is imminent.

Update 2: Now Peercoin has hit $1 even at crypto-trade, where there were some large sell walls. Dollar parity officially achieved!

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I voted for November 2013. This is kind of optimistic Wink
But at the moment Peercoin rises at roughly the same rate as Bitcoin (what not all other altcoins do). And I think it has the chance to overtake Bitcoin's rate of price increase once it becomes more popular than it is now and hence more demanded at exchanges.
I don't know whether the current Bitcoin price is the result of a growing bubble or the result of Bitcoin mining becoming even more a business than it has been before.
A stable or even rising Bitcoin price (by the time of this writing mtgox: $367.00, bitstamp: $338.27, btce: $321.00, campbx: $315.00, btccn: ¥2290.00, coinbase: $338.619) would be helpful to bring Peercoin across $1, but I'd like it even more to see an exchange rate for BTC/PPC of more than roughly 0.0018 Wink

I tend to agree with mhps, although i'm not sure that bitcoin really will "crash". But at some moment the BTC price will stabilize or correct a bit, and then altcoins like PPC and LTC will attract attention from investors. That would be the opportunity to break out of the 0.0017-0.002 PPC/BTC price range and rise in relation to Bitcoin.

Some time towards the end of the month, as a conservative estimate. Partially hinges on BTC still rising, but an update to version 0.4 would help immensely.

So far it seems like BTC is decreasing and PPC is decreasing as well. I would think that ppc would be rising vs btc as btc is going down.

We need ppc/usd, eur, rur at btc-e. This would add a lot more stability. It sort of makes me mad that they still don't have at least ppc/usd trading pair yet.

Depending on the exchange(s) you look at and the trade pair, PPC has crossed the price level of USD 0.60!

This is what you get, if you exchange PPC to BTC at btc-e (current rate 0.00186 BTC/PPC), transfer the BTC to bitstamp (current rate 330 USD/BTC) and trade them for USD there.

This is what you get, if you exchange PPC to BTC at btc-e (current rate 0.00175 BTC/PPC), transfer the BTC to bitstamp (current rate 383 USD/BTC) and trade them for USD there.
If you were crazy enough for trying to get your USD via mtgox, you could even get USD 0.72 per PPC with the current rate of 415 USD/BTC at gox.

The whole market is just so volatile it's so hard to say. It will hit a 1$ at some point though; that's for sure.

Now at coinmarketcap the calculated price has passed $ 0.71 (~ 0.00165 * 430, Bitstamp price).

At Crypto-trade, it is at 0,67, with a healthy-looking order book:

https://crypto-trade.com/trade/ppc_usd

So far it seems like BTC is decreasing and PPC is decreasing as well. I would think that ppc would be rising vs btc as btc is going down.

We need ppc/usd, eur, rur at btc-e. This would add a lot more stability. It sort of makes me mad that they still don't have at least ppc/usd trading pair yet.

I observed that PPC often follows the price movements of BTC, but in a more "smooth" way. So when there is a BTC rally, PPC also goes up against fiat but not so steeply, but when BTC crashes, PPC goes up against BTC. So PPC price is slightly more stable than BTC's. It has its own dynamics though, like in the June dip and at the September rally to the PPC/BTC All-time-high of 0.0043.

PPC/USD at crypto-trade is doing fairly well, it's easy to use it with OKPay (even lower fees than BTCE) and you get good prices, a bit lower than if you do the conversion BTC/USD and PPC/BTC at BTC-E.

...and interestingly it is performing better than some other alt coins. In fact it seems to keep Bitcoin's pace quite well. The trading pair BTC/PPC is remarkably stable. Assuming it stays this way, another USD 200 to BTC price might bring PPC across the USD 1 limit Smiley

Peercoin was performing better than Bitcoin today Smiley

It's possible we'll see dollar parity in November ... although we'll see...

peepeecoin will die just a matter of time

what a lame troll attempt...
Can you please elaborate why PPC is going to die? It is one of the alt coins with high potential due to improvements that will most likely not be included in BTC because of BTC's policy (and PPC is still rising faster than BTC...).
So I guess, of all alt coins PPC, LTC, NVC and XPM have a potential to survive.
And just btw.: looks like my guess for crossing 1 USD/PPC in November might have been a lucky guess Smiley
