Today, only 1% of mortgage loans are processed entirely in a digital way. Besides, there is no operational crowdfunding platform for mortgages. Sure, you can find P2P lending platforms like Prosper and Lending Club, which cover microloans without collateral; but you can't finance your mortgage through those platforms. Homelend brings P2P lending to an area that, for several reasons, could not be addressed yet: mortgages. What made this possible was the blockchain revolution. Today, blockchain makes possible to create a shared database of digitalised mortgage files. Also, P2P lending and blockchain were made for each other. Thanks for your question. Our go-to-market strategy is currently focused on Hong Kong and Mainland China. We have already an strategic alliance with a non-bank mortgage lender in Hong Kong.
Homelend will address the primary market, i.e. origination of mortgage loans. We are convinced, however, that sooner than later the secondary market and the MBS market will be also disrupted by blockchain, and of course we aim to be part of this revolution.

Most of the innovation regarding mortgage lending is focused on the digitization of the several stages of mortgage origination (application/underwriting/closing). Homelend, while also aiming at an end-to-end digital origination process, is more focused on tapping on the power of smart contracts, AI and neural networks to create sophisticated creditworthiness assessment systems. Our platform will pre-assess mortgage applications before loan investment opportunities are offered to potential lenders under a P2P/crowdlending framework. This is not currently done by any platform, at least to our knowledge.

Thanks for your comment and question. We think that the main advantage of the project is that it does not only focuses on the digitization aspect of mortgage origination, but also in the sophistication of the mortgage loan assessment and the flow of information and funds from borrowers to lenders. Blockchain technology will significantly information sharing and access for business processes where several actors are involved. Mortgage origination is one of such.
