Need Wordpress help for a Bitcoin-related site (resize header), will tip BTC

Hi,

I'm trying to make the header bigger in my theme. The theme allows me to put a text widget (with HTML for an image ad) in the header. However, there seems to be a limit to the image size I can put in. If I put a larger image, it will automatically resize.

I need to make the area bigger, so I can put in a larger banner ad without it being resized.

Have you ever worked it out? How does Wordpress work? When it comes to the image resizing problem, I have another question for you.  I wonder how can I accomplish the image resizing process . Do I need another image resizing SDK to help customize the size of images ? I am almost a green hand here. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
