I want to know your view about this. Do most of these concept really needs fund raising. Are they not taking advantage of noobs with whitepaper project flying around without anything to show for the fund received after ico.

ICO is sort of just a term for IPO which is used when a company trying to gather fund to be listed in an exchange and in this case if they want to gather investment to fund their project then this is a basic and important start. However there are lots of scammer trying to take advantage on this and as ICOs are popping everyday that makes people wonder if they will show the fund raised or just trying to run away.

If we're talking about ICO taking advantage of newbie investors with whitepaper projects for showcase then its normal because even the best project ICO need to showcase something to attract people to invest in their project, if you're not running an ICO and not giving fully transparency in your project then who would invest in it?

ICO can never be overemphasis  in the life of a startup project that want to raise fund to finance itself. ICO  Initial Currency Offering  is same as IPO for underlisted blue chips. All project developers need ICO to enable them sell their token to the public through crowd funding and the carry out their project once their are successful.

I think the current ICO market is more like a hype.
Most projects don't need so much money, they just want to raise a big fund.

Yeah sure it does, i mean you cant build anythng without money right ? But the important thing is to make sure the project you willing to invest is want to build something possible. I mean today there some ICO want to raise money to build something that not even exist yet, its good if they really can make that happend.

I think it's a great way for fundraising, and I wouldn't really say they're taking advantage of noobs. There are scams that are duping people into donating but not all ICOs are doing so.

ICO is an ancient concept like my life. You could always invest in projects, not directly, but through organizations. Now everything is done much cleaner, without intermediaries, and the like. That is, the company receives all the money you donated to it, and not bitten part of the commissions and taxes.

ICO is a quick way for fundraising. It's quicker than any other existing process. There have been ICOs that collected their money in a matter of hours. In real life, for example, going to a bank for a loan, this could never happen. Someone said that companies don't need so much money. I think he has right, and my opinion, this is the reason why so many of them fail to collect them. Today a 70%+ of the ICOs fails.

ICO is bullshit.
i just do not get it,why would people still fall for it to be honest ?
do they know,it does not make any sense to collect a lot of money with just an idea ? or something like that.
(even a project with an existing could scam us,how about those project without any product?)
and as we could see, most of them were scam and never deliver what they promised for.
from my perspective,
ICO's main function is to get money from people without a lot of effort backing it.
nothing more than that.

Ico is important. Coin use this medium to raise fund for the project. It also gains awareness with this. Also bounties hunters gain token by engaging in the project

Because most ICO projects don't need to raise so much money, it doesn't make much sense to raise so much money.

Some projects running ICOs really are only taking advantage of noobs who swarm the crypto space. Nevertheless, there are some good coins who have done this too. Those funds gathered from crowdsale is being used not only for the development of the coin itself, but it is also used to promote the coin in later stages and is used to pay for their workers(teams, community manager, etc.).

usually they're just taking advantage. It's simply so easy to raise funds in ICO nowadays, then everybody probably just thinks, why not to do it... But there are projects where it makes sense, just keep ethereum in mind

Now it is very difficult to find a good project in which you can invest your money and are not afraid that this is fraud. Friends are more careful and if you find a good project then read about it as much as possible. I think it's best to choose projects that already have a finished product.

We do have the same beliefs when it comes to ICO which it isn't really necessary for a certain project to raise up funds might be consider on some donations but not totally ideal to have a big funding. Same as you said even projects do have already a working product or idea have still the tendency to scam out investors how much more for those who do only have the idea.

not all ICOs are bullshit.! I agree if most ICO is scam therefore should be more selective in investing do not invest if the project only offers an ideas

ICO's main function is to get money from people without a lot of effort backing it.
nothing more than that.
this function only applies to irresponsible team, many teams are working hard and their project has been successfully for example: Binance, EOS, OmiseGo, and so on
