Hello there,

I purchased 3x MSI RADEON RX 570 ARMOR MK2 8G OC for a mining rig. They are Micron memory and they perform very good so far on ethereum.

My concern is : Should I BIOS MOD my graphics cards. I successfully achieved 29.4MH/s only using MSI Afterburner. My settings: -137 core voltage / 1300MHz core clock / 2250MHz memory clock / 50 to 60°C.

Running stable for 2 days so far.

Thanks for the advice!

Yes You should mod the bios on your MSI MK2 570 8GB with Micron mem. Using Polaris BIOS Editor free from here: https://github.com/jaschaknack/PolarisBiosEditor

You can save your current stock bios with atiflash, load them in PBE, hit the "one click" bios mod, and save them with a new name. Flash that, and you will be looking at 31.5 MH/s on ETH easily. If you want to squeeze out just a bit more, you can look at the max mem speed setting of 2250 toward the bottom left of PBE and change that to 2350. I have one 570 with Micron that will take a mem value of 2290 right now.

Others will recommend doing all sorts of crazy things to the GPU BIOS, but we find it best if you just do the mem timings only, and leave the OS to adjust everything else. That makes things much more flexible to keep up with difficulty changes, or even swaps between mining different coins if needed.

If you are looking for a Mining OS, I also recommend checking out ethos Linux.

Here is a video that covers the basic One Click BIOS Mod for AMD RX Series cards. Start your vBIOS Mod and OC adventure here with our own virus -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4kbvY8fr0o
