could it be possible that users who are recognized have it easier to receive merit? you dont just have to write valid post. you have to write valid post and through that other users realize that you exist. and if you have something special - like a sig or an avatar you will be recognized later and the change to receive further merit is higher.
I think that when you build a good reputation and people see that you know what you are talking about (that you are not some random shitposter), you are likely to get more merits, as people will trust your opinions and analysis. This happens in real life as well, so no problem with that. I've honestly wanted to research mining crypto, but with my technical shortfaflls, it's such a headache. I've wanted to participate more in the mining boards... but yeah, I just am not too competent in that field.
I think that if you like mining, go ahead. Do your research. I know very little about that as this is not my main interest. You probably know a lot more than I do. After your research, make some posts in Beginners & Help or Mining board with what you have learned. As someone said above, you will learn while writing a new post. Engage in discussions about mining, and avoid that price discussions if you have nothing to say. Props to you, OP. I've not read any of your other posts, but you seem to be the kind of member who should be allowed to rank up, i.e., not a spammer or a scammer. Hell, even Theymos merited your post here.
Good job on proving that the system is working. It's refreshing to see someone eager to learn about Bitcoin and it's technology.
Thank you both for your kind words. I am very glad I'm joining this community.

Hello guys! I am new to this forum, I started using it just after the merit system was implemented, so I was one of the "lucky" ones as I got zero merit for free. I was active in Reddit for some time but when I discovered this forum, I became addicted to it and I really enjoyed the merit system. A merit differs from a Like (facebook) or an Upvote (Reddit), because sMerits are not free, you have to earn them to be able to give. So only really good posts get merited. Anyway, I decided that I wanted to become a Full Member, and for that I needed 100 merit. That was pretty of a challenge. I made a deadline: I would like to get 100 merit before 120 activity. I didn't expect, but I got 100 merit much faster than that!! I am truly interested in cryptocurrencies. I like it's technology, I like to use it as a payment method and I really enjoy it as an investment. I think my love for Bitcoin and crypto made this path easier. I want to share some of my thoughts about the merit system with some other people who like me love cryptos and are walking this arduous (but rewarding) path towards higher forums ranks: So be patient, write good content, help others. Merits will come slowly, one by one, and exponentially! If you post good content, you will get the merits you need. Next objective: 250 merits!! (i hate this activity system!! lol)You deserve to get a star, man. The amount of merit you get now is a reflection of your quality. You have given me precious enlightenment, I must imitate what you are doing now. You are not a merit pursuit, but merit is chasing you now. Congrats !!

That's nice dude, I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with people that come here exclusively to get paid from signature campaigns as long as they take it seriously. If you think of it like a real job and you try really hard I don't see any problem.

- The most important: Make good quality posts and WAIT, don't expect merits now!. Good posts are the true merit sources, and they will be forever awarding merits to you!
After you create a history of good posts you will be receiving merits constantly, few ones each day. If your posts are good, people will read them, even if they are "lost" in page 10. This effect is exponential. My first 20 merits were the harder. I produced a lot of good content when I joined the forum, and now I am receiving merits from posts I did not even remember anymore.
Since you're undoubtedly very successful at cracking the system a couple of questions for you.. did you participate in bounties in this journey or was your post history completely clean helpful posts so far? I wonder sometimes if it's my posting style that has made me hit a merit roadblock or if it's the fact that my history has about 1/3 bounty replies. I've tried quite a few things similar to what you've said where I'm answering garbage questions on the first page and quickly without much success. Was this stuff that you mainly did in the Beginner's forum or was it scattered throughout? Also, I had the exact opposite experience where I got my first 20 merits almost immediately and have been in a drought ever since. Still though really an amazing accomplishment and I hope to see your next post at Sr. Member status soon! 100% Jelly.

To some extent I agreee with you here, in cases where people learn and then pass knowledge on and when posters provide value to the community/ecosystem. The real issues lie with people who make little effort, if the shitposters actually tried to better themselves and the posts they make then there will be few people here who would moan about them.

Lol this is pretty cool, I liked that!!! Thank you! Since you're undoubtedly very successful at cracking the system a couple of questions for you.. did you participate in bounties in this journey or was your post history completely clean helpful posts so far? I think almost 100% of my post here is clean, except for one or 2 posts regarding some airdrops, which I don't participate anymore, I think they are useless and not free (you pay with your personal data, KYC). I didn't participate in any bounty, just some signature campaigns, but I am having problems being accepted (too crowded). A campaign that helped me a lot was Joe signature campaign (which i am wearing a signature now). This campaign was a good incentive cause I knew someone was going to read my posts. I don't have any interest in Twitter or Reddit bounties because I think it's too much effort and you will learn nothing along the way. My recommendation is to stay away from them. Translation and article bounties I believe to be better, as you will learn something along the campaign, and they will pay you better. I never participated in any of them either, and I don't plan to do so. On the other hand signature campaigns are pretty cool as there is no effort, as I will post in this forum anyway. Was this stuff that you mainly did in the Beginner's forum or was it scattered throughout? I post mainly in these boards: Local, Bitcoin Discussion, Bitcoin technical Discussion, Meta, Alternative Cryptocurrency, Economy, Politcs & society, Serious Discussions, Beginners & Help.... Take a look at Where the Merit Pours?.

You’re clearly a really good poster (OP) , congratulations for ranking up seemingly quite fast. You’re an example to all those newbies complaining about how difficult it is to rank up & gain Merit. We need more posters like yourself here. I left you 1 Merit point.

I completely agree with Astargath. I could care less if a person is here solely for the money--I, myself, would probably post less if I wasn't getting paid, though that's debatable. I usually go way over the number of posts per week that I actually get paid for. Nevertheless, we know exactly what the result is when people are paid to be here, don't speak English, and are required to write what amounts to a high number of posts per week in English. We get shitposting. And it doesn't matter if the campaigns increase the character count minimums, because then you just observe padded posts which are still garbage. It's the effort part that's lacking in these people who are here solely for the paycheck. If I was living in a 3rd world country where a signature campaign could pay my rent for a year, I'd sure as hell put a lot more effort into my posts than something like this: Many people who scare the bitcoin down deeper, and I think because it wants to get a lower price and there should be nothing to be afraid of bitcoin prices.
this nonsense question because the principle being bitcoiner is to hold bitcoin to avoid loses during the price is dump, I think people panicking and scary are not fully understands the bitcoin rules as virtual currency they didn't the digital currency movement or waving their value because lack of studying about the bitcoin as currency.
There should be nothing to fear in investing or holding bitcoins, we can see the history of bitcoin prices to overcome our fear, the first start with a very cheap price the first bitcoin price was created.
These examples are all from the first current thread of Bitcoin Discussion, and any number of these examples would be easy to find. These are complete crap, and my guess is that these individuals are not here to have a friendly chat with people about bitcoin. They don't read replies, and they just post post post. That, my friends, is the problem.

I’m just here for the pizza, but looks like everyone forgot to bring it. Jerks. Oh, and good job, bitmover; I always light up a bit when it comes to reviewing your posts on a weekly basis, and to watch the progression of merit growth for your account has been pretty phenomenal. I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it: this forum needs more members like you! Here’s to the next 100 merits!

Your advise is nothing short of what I earlier advised. Complainers about the merit system are just not doing something right. When someone complains about not getting enough merit or how the system is targeted towards some set of people, I visit the thread to see if the claim is justified but unfortunately, a lot of them don't even worth a fraction of 1 merit. This is a lesson for everyone in the above category that the community is not perfect, but the we also human beings that appreciate hardwork when someone is giving and even though its not coming, someone will definitely spot it at some point.

This is so great advice for us that would like ro rank up.
Even me I would like to move into another rank someday but it is so hard to attain because of having a merit. However after a month that I've been started posting I thought that it was not a time for me to hurry to earning merits because there are so many members like me that dreamings to rank up. So they also striving and waiting to be awarded or get merit all of them.
Merit is a good implementation of this forum because it makes a good way for discussion of each thread. And because of the merit of quality posters existed. And merit one of the key to having a creative and knowledgeable members.
Always keep believing in yourself that you could move into another level. Keep waiting and don't lose hope.

Impressed on the Bruce Lee quote:
"A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer"
A good composition to attract readers with your patience.
Try to explore more, you will learn a lot specially the challenge of merit system.
