This is not a scam I am sure, those who won on the auction are already running them, the way they market their product is another matter. Judging from the respond from the China market is so huge  they could easily sell them out in China market alone.

I do hope so as I just got suspicious about their whole venture.

Mate, take a look around...all got the miner already...and for buy you must understand, is not a factory like apple. Just a few ppl, so they can't produce 10.000 pcs on one day. I order 2 pcs today, at taobao without any problem.

Sorry but I doubt it seriously as there are just one single record of sale on their Taobao store for today (26 November). Besides, my Chinese friend's guess was that all people who are buying from their taobao store are just showing off and are probably from their own team.

If you don't think the forum members are not getting the AntMiner, go check here.  I made the setup guide and now people are leaving comments stating they received their miners.

Setup Guide: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344970.0

Just had one guy saying his miner wasn't working, but I walked him through the setup.  If he was nice, he may mentioned that later that his unit is now working...  We will see

It shows members in Japan, EU and possibly in USA/Canada are getting the units.  I don't think they are buying their own units from all over the world and sending themselves the unit by paying $400 USD Express Shipping.

Sushi this is great that you are so enthusiastic about all this Bitmain thing. But from the moment you said you traveled from US to China and made those funny video clips I got even more suspicious about their company.
Of course it makes sense to pay 400$ (that doesn't really need to be paid. Those pictures could be taken in 4 different rooms of one single office having some different labels with one prototype) and earn around thousands of dollars.

I don't want to be paranoid about this but my Chinese friend's talk as said they can much more easily scam a foreigner rather than a Chinese person in China has really made me nervous about them.

Omnid, and all the ppl which receive the miner from the first auction are involved in this big scam, right? And got money for fake picture, posts etc..  Roll Eyes

You can believe your friend, this is up to you, but i bought 2 today. Maybe, just for thinking about...your friend don't want, that YOU got a miner, instead of him? Wink

You have only 3th hand information, my are first hand. I believe myself much more then a stranger in china, who is your friend.  Cool

At this point we have senior members and heroes waiting for units as well as some 3rd party verification, so we know that people aren't getting flooring tiles.

Still leaves questions over usb units.  Seriously, Bitmain, you guys can make more of a killing on those than anything else right now.  Just take note of all the other [failed] attempts to sell usbs lately and the key issue => severely overpriced.  Not hinting that you should undercut everyone else... but it made AM a shit-ton of coin. For a bit more verification that Bitmain/AntMiner isn't a scam:

I won a unit from the first auction, paid the BTC at 6pm on Friday, package showed up at my door at 6pm on Tuesday.
I'm pretty happy with four days delivery time from Shenzhen to rural Japan, including a Saturday and Sunday.

My impressions are very similar to aexcu's. Unfortunately after I configured my unit it wasn't hashing - this turned out to be an issue with the PSU I was using, according to the ratings claimed on the box it should have been more than powerful enough, but it was a very cheap and nasty one.
Many, many thanks to sushi for taking the time to check over my settings and help me rule out problems with the unit itself (did this by running each blade one at a time, which worked fine)
I went out and bought a better PSU a few hours ago - and everything's been fine since. It does make a bit of noise but that's to be expected.

If anyone has questions feel free to send me a PM.

Here's a shitty video I took with my phone : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd5xhyTkuJA

and here are some shitty pictures! :

I also received my unit today from the Second Auction late last Sunday.  Fastest shipping ever!

Initially had some issues with the network not picking up but managed to get that resolved.

Packing was good and the overall unit was quite light (4KG +-)

Everything looks good and legit though hashing slightly less than 180G

Cheers

Same here, made the payment friday am, got the miner tuesday pm. Everything running fine, nice build and everything. Definitely not a scam. In-stock ASICs with quick delivery should be the norm, thanks to bitmain for raising the bar.

"raising the bar" would have a product in a fully functional website with cart/checkout system.. is this ready yet?  The original post even points towards this:

Quote
"All 1st batch miners will be able to purchase our product at our official online shop once the S1 is in stock and prepared for immediately shipping out. Remember, we sell miners in stock in the first round sale! There will be quantity discounts, and we only need about one week to produce the first batch."

Like BFL or HF?  Grin

Bitmain are setting a good example by moving past the pre-orders trend and delivering a product quickly, but I does not mean they are not lacking on other aspects. In particular communications could be better managed.
