I've been around with crypto for quite some time but never tried POW or POS mining. I'm aware that there are some mining calculators, which will allow you to count your profits on a specific setup, but is that a thing with POS mining?

Are there any specifics I should know about or is it limited to transferring coins to your Windows or whatever wallet and then keeping it online as much as possible?

The only coin I've tried to mine so far is CNX. They promise 12% annual returns, though I have no way of knowing is that profitable or not, at least it's working and I've already received some mining rewards.

I will be really grateful if you can provide some links to good materials about how POS mining works, or about this topic in general. What are your top 3 coins for POS mining?

You also need to pay attention to minimum coin limit for doing Proof-of-Stake. It will depend on the coin itself, how much coin that you need to keep in your wallet.

You have experience with CNX, right? It will not be difficult for you to try another coin.

Agree with above

DCR probably is the most reliable POS coin by far. DCR is also quite market fluctuation resistant, with very stable price.

Get on Twitter and find some good POS coins or follow some POS accounts, maybe even some Discord channels.  Staking is coin-dependent, but like others have said, if you have enough coins and keep your wallet open and unlocked for staking you will generate more coins over time.

 Currently, I like:

Castle Airdrop Project (CSTL) and Platinum Bar (XPTX).  Both are low cap and low circulating coins for the time being at least.

I would avoid anything with a super-high return.

Well, looking at the coinmarketcap, I don't think you can really say that.
