Many users have recently lost access to watching all videos of popular creators because of the tougher censorship policy of YouTube. Simultaneously, given the latest data scandal with Facebook, more and more people seek alternatives, such as blockchain-powered networks.

“The less centralized platforms keep more power—and potentially, privacy—in the hands of creators and users”, says Ned Scott, who runs the Steem-based social network Steemit.

Facebook is under serious pressure right now. There is a hype growing larger where people are deleting their Facebook profiles, and motivating others to do the same, which I find to be very amusing. I know it's a bit of a hype stimulating people to do this, but everything in the end needs a reason to trigger people to take serious actions. I am happy to see that people don't let Facebook get away with what they did or allowed to be possible. I however don't know how long this anti Facebook campaign hype will last -- it may very well be that people revert back to Facebook once the hype fades away. People are so used to social media, that when they aren't using it, they feel empty and lonely. It's pathetic.

A blockchain-based platform may not be the solution to everything. True, people are fed up about centralized organizations like Facebook and youtube censoring content. But there are certain no-go areas - for example hate speech, child porn, etc. It would be impossible to segregate and block such content.

Yes there may be some pros and cons when people opt to use blockchain-based platform than those centralized ones but still maybe this is the time for blockchain-based platform to show what they got and why they are better than facebook and youtube. This scrutinization of facebook may be an eye opener to some people to use the decentralized ones rather than the centralized ones wherein they hold our data. They are getting stricter anyway especially when it comes to cryptocurrencies so people wanted to have a way to express or spread information about it.

If their is an alternative rather than being censored by the giant network like YouTube and Facebook then I will do the same, but in reality is none. If the community of crypto will offer that and all members will transfer all data regarding marketing and advertising on that platform then we do have no other choice, but to follow.

If this revolution will be more public by doing such action, then we take and do what will hurt them.

The situation can not continue to be helpless for the crypto community. If conventional social media continue to block anything crypto related then other non illegal means will be taken by crypto enthusiasts to propagate themselves. I see this as a positive for Steemit and other blockchain-based platform.
