If the police would refuse to accept a complaint unless you have a copy of the thief/criminal/robber/kidnapper  id or driver license I bet the crime rate (reported) will go down to 0.

You mean like when someone gets murdered and you report it to the police? Even if you don't know who did it?

That's what police do. :-)

more or less retired.

Another E.|S.|C. European wallet service that I'd never heard of 'hacked'.  Yawn.

Next phase:  Get DOX on the victims for later sale, then pay out a little bit to a few of the effected for PR reasons.  If that.

sig spam anywhere and self-moderated threads on the pol&soc board are for losers.

Well. It was maybe the most important local exchange in Czech Republic. Actually working as "middleman", providing escrow services and bid/ask system for users who traded with each other. (There was no way to send fiat money to bitcash.cz or to withdraw fiat money from them. So that site technically was not an exchange.) There was shared wallet with transactions between users being internal and free (off-chain). The trade volume was about ten to several tens of BTC per day.
There was also scam email circulating shortly after the hack: Something like: "We have been attacked by the hackers. Saddly, everthing was stolen. Only course of action now for me is to hire ?"claim/enforcing/extorting"? company certified from/by USA. Please send me 2 BTC to the following address. It will help you return your money." The address provided is empty with no transactions and obviously no one fell for this trick.
The question is: How much BTC was in the hot wallet and can the coins be tracked?
