You can make both trading and long term investments in BTC, while in Litecoin you can hold your coin and wait to increase your investments. Gotta be the king, Bitcoin of course   BTC has a network effect and intrinsic 'digital gold' quality.

Litecoin however I think is becoming less and less necessary as there are more currencies being released and refined constantly.

Litecoin has a solid group of developers, but not nearly as many as Bitcoin. Also, much of Litecoin’s code is simply just ported over from Bitcoin. Litecoin has good code, but most crypto developers focus on Bitcoin.

LTC is and has never been a competitor of BitCoin. The internal cost of LTC did not increase due to the limitation of Coinbase LTC in may 2017. Because a lot more inventions came to the LTC b4, they were adapted by BTC (SegWit, LN, atomic swaps, smart contracts).

There are very few wallets available for Litecoin compared to how many are available for Bitcoin. Luckily for Litecoin, most hardware wallets like TREZOR and Ledger support LTC. However, there are not as many iOS and Android wallets available for Litecoin. Winner: Bitcoin
