Hey guys, Coinbase just added the ability for people to buy up to 1btc/week instantly without doing the 30 day wait. I just tried it for 0.50 BTC and I got it instantly in my coinbase account.

Check it out here: http://blog.coinbase.com/post/66910620890/new-coinbase-users-can-now-acquire-their-first-bitcoin

Quote
Part of our goal at Coinbase is to make acquiring Bitcoin as easy as possible. Since August, we’ve had an instant-buy feature available to users who have made a purchase and been with us for 30 days.

Starting today, all new Coinbase users can acquire a small amount of bitcoin (just 1) without the 30-day wait period provided they meet the rest of the required verifications (verifying their ID and adding a backup credit card).

http://media.tumblr.com/9fd10e9dbdac4e25f4d35f30abdbd9c2/tumblr_inline_mw7xyfqwc21qasw7n.png

Traditionally it has taken a few business days for new users to acquire bitcoin for the first time, even though they want it immediately.  With this change, a bitcoin newbie can acquire their first bitcoin in the time it takes to link and verify their payment methods - 10 minutes or less.

Check it out and try buying some bitcoin instantly!

And while you’re at it, let your friends know that they too can get their first bitcoin in a matter of minutes.  If you use our referral options, both you and your friend will get $5 of Bitcoin!

If you don't have a coinbase account yet, feel free to use my referral link and we both get a $5 bonus once you buy atleast 1 Bitcoin: https://coinbase.com/?r=516dc0d2824af68dc500004e&utm_campaign=user-referral&src=referral-link

That's not a bad system. I used Virwox to get my feet in the water, but obviously for something like an entire coin I'd need to look elsewhere, as Virwox limits you to something like half of a coin per month.

Are there any exchanges that allow USD deposits from paypal? I know of a couple that allow withdrawal to paypal but do not allow deposits. I'll be looking out but it seems like the OP had an easy way to get started with a coin.

Thanks zeetu!  Grin

I finally was able to buy some btc from Coinbase with the instant buy. The last several tries, I've been unsuccessful due to "high-risk".

meh, I bought less than 1 BTC about 7 days ago, still pending until tomorrow.  UNACCEPTABLE imo. They got my money from my bank with 2 days though...convenient for them.

So I guess the instant 1 Bitcoin doesn't apply since you bought it a week ago?

I believe the high risk flag is almost unfairly used, this has happened to myself on a under of occasions when bitcoin fluctuation are in fact not that bad. But who knows, clearly companies such as coinbase need to protect themselves.

As far as I know there are a lot of verification steps. You first have to buy or sell btc and wait for 30 days. Verify a phone, bank, cc and you ss number.

You no longer need to wait 30 days for this 1 btc/week option.

Really? I am not able to buy/sell instantly, and I have had my account for about 6 months.
