Samsung, the electronics giant, is considering building a blockchain to manage and track shipments of its vast network of global supply chains.
The world's largest chip maker and smartphone makers Samsung (Samsung Electronics) in the chain of support block technology, books are considering widely implemented block chain platform, in order to trace its global shipments.

In an interview with Bloomberg, song guangyu, head of the block chain for samsung SDS, samsung's IT subsidiary, revealed that the blockchain system could cut transport costs by 20 per cent.

It is worth noting that the executive also confirmed that SDS is committed to development blocks for samsung electronics chain platform, this makes the samsung as early as on such a scale seriously explore block chain technology applicability of one of the global manufacturers. SDS experience in logistics and shipping industry to implement block chain technology has been proved, and in December 2017, successfully completed a pilot project for seven months, used to record and track of South Korea's large shipping import and export shipping logistics.

The report also said the SDS is expected to handle 488,000 tons of air cargo and 1 million 20-foot equivalent (TEU) units in 2018. These include samsung's flagship devices, such as the Galaxy S9 and the upcoming Note 9, and the OLED displays used by apple's iphone ex, as well as home electronics.

In addition to tracking shipments, the blockchain platform can even reduce the time and efficiency between product release and end-user shipping.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

It would be interesting to see if Samsung would develop their own blockchain or use an already existing product.

Thanks for sharing. This is good news. I think that the more blockchain is applied in different industries the better. People will become more familiar with the concept. It will gradually become more mainstream. This will, in turn, make it easier for people to understand cryptocurrencies. I can understand that it'll help with logistics. I thought the last big was interesting:

It would be nice if they could elaborate a bit on how that would work.
