It is not easy to avoid scams on the internet as it is not easy to avoid them in real life. The world is full of people that will try to steal everything from the others. I personally never invested in ICOs, there is always time to buy them after the team start working on their project and the coin goes on some reliable exchanges.

I think you had better do enough research. For example, you should read the white paper and find out the team members. You need to find out if they are good enough.

Yeah i would say as well that its really hard to find them out but if you do your job well, than you might make it. First thing is that you need to read the whitepaper nicely and see if there are some typos, bad graphics etc and how you think the idea would do in the blockchain era. Than i would go and check every single one of the team members on linkedin, there are a bunch of steps to take but these are good for beggining

No one can give you the right answer, it will depend your experience only. Learn by join some ICO program and make a book journal or notepad to write everything about your activity and the result. From there you can learn how to recognize scam ICO, try it and good luck.

In order to find a project worthwhile to invest in it you need to spend a lot of time and effort to check everything in detail, and only then can you make any decision. Never hurry to invest somewhere somewhere, because there is a lot of deception

Spend time digesting the whitepaper, if you're not good with the technical jargons, find someone who is. Check the team, their pedigree, qualifications, experience especially as it relates to the project. Check the community, followers on social media like telegram, twitter, reddit, etc. If the project has a prototype or Alpha version already, that's great. Also check the roadmap for consistency

ICO is a really good way to invest, but you need to be careful not to invest in fraud. Looking for a good investment project takes a lot of time; you need to review a lot of projects to find the right one. Be sure to read the white paper, browse the project site, talk to the team.

Since offering ICO to the public is a new way to raise money in large amount easily, so there will be a lot of scam ICO too in the market. The most important factor you have to check their team members background, check their social profiles search them on the internet whether they were accused for a scam in past, their profile must be clean. If possible chat them directly, check their past company in which they have worked try to reach out that company and ask about them. If you are still in doubt then wait don't buy during ICO, buy it when the coin lists on several exchanges.

There is a lot of possible red flags that can be noticed when researching ICOs, especially the team, make sure to research their legitimacy, their LinkedIn profiles etc. and avoid the ICOs that are not listing their teams at all.

Do a lot of research, read whitepaper check the MVP of the project, look for some possible redflags, team member's profiles should be in public! Do not try to participate any ICO which has redflags,if you cant find anyone in google it probably a scam, stay away from these type of projects because those scammers will always hide themselves.

You need to watch and check the development team, their social networks, previous experience in this area and what successes have been there.

The main thing is that you need to define this project team and their advisers. This is the main factor by which can understand scammers it or not

I usually see from some sources and the most I use is ICObench and ICOholder, everything looks more clear, starting from the team and the truth of their project

It's not difficult Smiley. You just need to ignore all ICO project that you can see or find out on the internet. Beside to avoid joining in scam bounty of scam ICO project you just need to join bounty campaign managed by truthworhty managers or Bitcoin signature campaign which pay weekly but I think it's impossible for a newbie member like you to join Bitcoin signature campaign.

To recognize a scam ico, I think you should take a look the announcements about the ico and the bounty campaign page of it. You should read the comments  and do research about it, I think these are maybe the most important ones.

One of the best legitimacy tests you can make to an ICO is speaking directly to the management team. If their backgrounds seem shady or anonymous, or you don't even hear back from them, chances are high ICO is a scam.

A real conversation with the founder of the project should be one of the first steps of your assessment.

The simplest thing you can do is go to their website and see all the criteria ICOs need. And contact the bounty team directly for information, go to the Telegram community to see if the members are active. These are the ways to help you discover a scam ICO.
