-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 At the request of Sirius, who owns bitcoin.org and the server this forum is hosted on, I have moved forum.bitcoin.org to bitcointalk.org. This is the final result of a long email discussion among many developers, exchange operators, etc. I have always been opposed to the move, but Sirius wanted to act according to consensus. The forum was the only thing on bitcoin.org except for a few static pages, so I don't feel like we've lost too much by separating from it. All of the old forum links should still be working correctly except www.bitcoin.org links, which are out of my control. Additionally, I fixed some other URL-related issues. If you see any problems, contact me. Because the old wiki is hosted on this server, its new location is http://bitcointalk.org/wiki . -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iF4EAREIAAYFAk42UFoACgkQxlVWk9q1kedZ8gEAqofd0TbShWadSewKV3SJWxZM VeJ8reeLjNm9RAdKggUA/01ifnMVoA2k6xLIjbBsfsgQsSaQk4dwEmVZv9f0fqsj =MVk5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

@theymos can you please set-up an auto-redirect to the https site... History has told us that it is particularly important to use secure web connections for anything bitcoin related

One off NP-Hard.

Now that the forum is hosted on bitcointalk.org, it stands to reason that there is slightly more freedom in operation. That said, would it be possible to convince you to install an openID server (or some kind of simple verification) to allow forum accounts to be logged into securely to other services like the UABB? +1 This would be great.

I'm glad I found this thread. I was freaking out at first. I thought bitcointalk.org was trying to steal my password. Let's see how Google reacts :-)

If the redirect is a 301(which i bet it is) it will keep all the ratings... No mistery.

I'm glad I found this thread. I was freaking out at first. I thought bitcointalk.org was trying to steal my password. it is better to have too sensitive spidey phishing sense than too dull. Appears they freaked a lot of people out, dont they know we have a higher than normal average of techies here and we all have a very healthy sense of paranoia.

Can someone explain to me why exactly this move was made, what will happen with the old domain, who owns the new domain, and has anything changed in the administration of this forum ?

That's why I posted a signed announcement here. Can someone explain to me why exactly this move was made, what will happen with the old domain, who owns the new domain, and has anything changed in the administration of this forum ?
The change was just meant to make it clear that the forum is in no way an "official arm of the project". I think this could have been done without moving the forum from its historic home, but the consensus was to move it. Both bitcointalk.org and bitcoin.org are owned by Sirius. forum.bitcoin.org and bitcoin.org/smf will point here for the foreseeable future. There are no changes in administration.

I don't know. It works for me on Firefox 3.6. Is anyone else having this problem?

There's no hurry, though it probably is a good idea to change it at some point.

I don't know. It works for me on Firefox 3.6. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm using Lastpass and it had the same problem. I looked at the link it was trying to connect to, the URL was very long. I must have "remembered my location" while I was in a forum and not just at the home page. That could be the same thing that happened in your FireFox Houdini. Edited: had the wrong name

Saddest day in Bitcoin history is when I see the "official" forums no longer associated with the "official" site.
Sucks big time.
Anyways, switch to vBulletin. Worth the cash. The community would no doubt pay for it if there was a bit donate for bitcoin to make this forum better banner at the top. Would be paid for in a week I bet.
