Please recommend a large pool

Hello everyone I'm new to bitcoin mining, could you suggest a large pool that uses PPS. Also do pools expect a minimum hash rate before letting you join.

The biggest one I see on blockchain info is BTCGuild on their 'Hashrate Distribution' /pools page.

But then, with low hashrate, you might never mine enought BTC to be able to withdraw it from pool.

So check first minimum withdraw amount requirements + how long you will mine this.

If you want to make a profit I suggest looking at other coins to mine.

There is still profit to be had but right now we are 'climbing the mountain' so it would depend on the miner(s) you are using.

Bitminter?

Personally I'd rather have BTC over FRN(USD) but I'm not in this for profit.

I'm in the for the long hawl, the end game, even though it is a hobby to me.

If you're mining with GPUs, I recommend LTC mining at LiteGuardian. 2% PPS. I can give an invite if you want one. I know you're not interested in profit, but with GPUs, you're much better off  Litecoin mining. Or altcoin mining. https://www.liteguardian.com/secure/

If you're mining with ASICs, it's tougher. There isn't as clear a choice for miners who want PPS. It used to be 50BTC, with 3% PPS, but they got hacked. I can only give my recommendation, and that's Bitparking, because of merged mining of NMC, IXC, I0C, DVC, and Groupcoin. All the merge mined coins are 2.5% PPS, with currently 0% DGM for BTC, which will become 1.5% DGM again at some point. The catch? I just stated it, it's not PPS, it's DGM. I would much rather prefer PPS, but I lack the resources to make a 2% or 3% PPS pool.

This is the current hash rate for each.  I would recommend any but 50BTC.  They were recently hacked and are slow to respond to the user base.  I have just about 1 BTC Tied up there and would like to get it back.  I did give them a stand out position in my book on Bitcoin Mining, but now feel the need to update the book.

BTC Guild depends on what sub you get latched to, gotta look at that....

over all been happy with them!! No complaints what so ever!!

I would definitely look at that pool graph to make a decision, up to you!

I wouldn't recommend BTCGuild just because they're getting so big they're starting to monopolize pooled mining.  Slush's Pool is great.  I've heard good things about Bitminter too.

I never tried BTCGuild, because their fees are too high. I used Slush's Pool before, but Slush keep all the namecoins which all the miners generate, and only give you the bitcoins. How do you think he had the money to start his Trezor business? From using all the namecoins which he got from all the miners.

I personally prefer Bitminter, you get your namecoins and also no fees!!

BTCguild pool is the largest, or you can try any other pool with 0 fee and incentives....

While not huge triplemining is a neat pool.  They have two features that stand out.

If you refer people and create a minipool within the pool a portion of their fee is paid to you instead of the main pool.

The second is a lottery system which rewards a small percentage of a block as a jackpot.  Usually like 0.2.  If you are mining on gpu's with a little luck you could win more on the jackpot than you would make in months.

Not sure how either of those would weight up against finding less blocks than larger pools but if you were to bring in enough people under you, you could bring in more bitcoin than gpu mining.

BTCguild is probably the easiest pool to set up, 1 minute and you're done.
Bitminter always overclocks your miner by a bit, which is great as long as it can stand it.

I would concur I use those 3 and have good results and all about the exact same result.
