strange network problem

Hi Miners,

My router won't let me download files. but youtube works.

when working on miners, I need to down drivers.
I was watching chrome's download speed. It keeps decrease until zero
and just stop there. click pause and resume won't help.

I tried different browser like ie, firefox. same.
I tried to download from different computers. same.

End up I found that I need to reboot my router. once rebooted, it works.
but only work for a while then problem come back again.

My router is WNDR4500v3. updated firmware but still same problem.

Any help? Thanks!

Try bypassing router and go direct with only one computer.  If that works, it’s a router problem.  If you get the same outcome, it’s a service provider problem.

Try different file to download! How about other activities such as browsing or whatever? Since you were able streaming on Youtube and also has the same on another computer, I suspected the issue is the file that you were trying to download (may their server).

It is worst idea to use the computer is being used for mining purposes. I do not see the people use it download the files on mining. If you want to use the mining software like Awesome miner or anything will be work perfectly.
But I do not find is being for other purposes. If you have the dual band router. Connect with the fibre optic internet cable mate..
This will allow you to find the good speed on using your router.

If you want to check the download and upload speed of the service provider. You can use the speedtest.net Hope we will fidn the available servers on it. So use of it mate.

Damn this kind of problem was prevalent in the DSL 56kbps modem days.

Before you try anything else, cross check this :

You might have blocked downloads. Could be caused by an infected reg file.

Also, the trickling down of download speed to 0 is not the problem, the download just stops it takes a while for the browser to realize this and update it on the UI.

When your connection drops or starts to drop you can ping your isp host / dns server.

It should be something like this : ping 172.16.0.1 -t

Don't forget to add the space before -t

If there's no connection there should be a request timed out reply or network unreachable.
This will let you know if your ISP is outright dropping your connection or just capping your data download.

If you get constant good replies like : Reply from 172.16.0.1 bytes = 32 time </=1ms TIL =64 without any interuptions then you have a steady connection and then the problem can only be resolved by the ISP.

You might want to log into the control pannel to check if you have put any data limit filter on yourself by mistake.
