Hello miners.

I am running the Sapphire RX570 6 GPU based mining rig and since the January 2018 I have dedicated all the hash rate to ETH only.

I have fiddled with the electricity of my house and the room where the mining rig is placed is like free of charge now. (Its illegal I know, but I still say bill for the rest of the house).

Looking at the current hash rate, I am getting almost 0.33 +/- 0.2 ETH each month. My question is should I keep mining this coin or direct my hashes to some other coins. Or just to collect the ETH and wait for the price rise? That would lie good deal as well, but I need to know what other miners are doing out there.

Are you guys switching the coins?

For 6 RX 570's you should be getting ~170MH/s. - I'm currently getting ~28.35 MH/s dual mining on the single RX 570 I have.

Long and short answer is, are you holding or selling? Selling right now, might be worth profit switching. However if you are holding, then... best guess is (and what I'm doing) is continue mining ETH - I'm using 8 RX 580's right now for it.

No man I am just getting 145 MH/s of hash rate. Each of the GPU is generating around the 24 MH/s and I have 6 GPU's in place. What I have acknowledged until now is that, they are not dropping a bit since I have fired them up and neither they are producing more than that. So everything stays the same for now.

My bets shot is to hold the ETH and hope for the prices to boost. Actually I am pretty sure on that, the prices might just boost up in month or so. If I get the chance then I will sell in that period just to get more closer to the ROI.

You are asking the wrong question. The real question is: Why are you still mining eth with those cards? You can make nearly %25 more with monero.

Soon you won't even able to mine 1/10 of what you are mining now. Just move to a GPU friendly coin.

-It's definitely worth it until you've some cheap (or free in your case) electricity.

-Each of your Sapphire RX 570 should be generating at least 27 Mh/s. Have you tried using some of the integrated overclocking options of Claymore miner? Which miner are you using right now?

-Monero is right now like 20% more profitable to mine than Ethereum, you should move to it.

-If you want to keep Ethereum, you may first mine Monero and then trade it for Ethereum. That way you'll get like 20% more Ethereum than directly mining it.

I think that's still worth. You can hold or trading it. Don't worry brother / sister, everything in crypto is possible. But if you need the answer about big money, i think 0.33 eth/month that not worth. Please you can more setting your rig to get more hashrates, you can OC with mod bios. Check on internet how to do it. Smiley

First I'll address your question...

No it is not worth it because you are giving up extra ETH you should be getting.

Each of those cards should be getting 28.5 to 32 MH/s.

My slowest 6 card RX 570 / 580 rig gets 178 MH/s, most get over 180 MH/s. I have a few getting 190+ MH/s.

Have you bios modded the cards? It is not hard.

https://github.com/jaschaknack/PolarisBiosEditor

Have you overclocked them? It is not hard.

https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/overdriventool-tool-for-amd-gpus.416116/

Have you switched the AMD drivers to compute mode?

Now, that said if you are just getting into mining you might not want to be changing things up often. That said there are some cryptonight coins that pay better then ETH at the moment and have high enough volumes on exchanges if you try to sell. For example... XMR, SUMO, IPBC

To mine those you will need a cryptonight miner like xmr-stak or xmrig.

Okay guys that gives me more clarification now.

So first thing is I am currently getting wrong hashrate and I assure that is because I have not overclocked it. I just bought it and installed on my own. I am running that one with the ethOS operating system and ASUS motherboard.

I will checkout the links provided for the overlocking and will do that immediately. However I will need to study that first as im no expert in that one to be honest.

And another tip for me is switch to monero! Okay what is the requirement for this one? can it be still ran on the ethOS or I have change the whole OS as well. Just new and learning in the mining field, hope you will guys explain this one too.

Thanks for the guidance. Appreciate it!

I don't have any experience with ethOS, but I've seen people around who do mine Monero on it. However, if you want my personal suggestion, here's what I'll tell you to do:

-Install Windows (preferably 10)
-Install latest Claymore CryptoNote GPU miner
-Use its integrated overclocking options and mine Monero

This is probably what I'd do if I were you.

my 2 cents on that:
at the moment if you keep mining ETH or better eth +XVG(eth it seem to be faster with claymore when double mined) then stay in ethos

if you decide to change and mine Cryptonight v7, I think that the best two CNight miner by far (12 % far Smiley) , GatelessGateSharp and srbminer, are under Windows.
So, its a no brain to switch.
But with the current price of XVG, double mining XVG will be probably my choice

Your ETHOS days are over. Just dump that software away. Install win10 and download nicehash. As simple as that. Nicehash has an advantage of switching algos automatically when some other algo outperforms what you mine, still, If you don't want to pay fees to nicehash, then just download the latest monero miner and mine yourself on a pool like suprnova. You'll probably make more money by doing so.

You can mine monero on your average ubuntu distro too if that's what you prefer.

If you are getting 24Mhs then your bios is modded but there is a driver issue. Are you using Windows 7 with that Robin Hood driver? I had issues with some GPUs with that.

Some ran at 28Mhs and while others ran at 24Mhs and look at GPUz for some reason it was throttling the core engine.

The stock AMD driver didn't do that however it ran at 17mhs due to no compute mode in windows 7.

Like others said, try windows 10 with the latest drivers and see if you can get the 27-28Mhs.

Set your engine core to 1126 and memory core to 1950 or so. And do a -50 or -100 mV undervolt.

Okay. So that hurts a lot in the first place after seeing that I cant use the ETHOS anymore! Unfortunately I am not expert and dont understand how to do it but I will take into consideration that I have to switch as fast as I could so that I can get more money out of it. The seller from whom I bought the mining rig told me that we are not overclocking the devices yet so that we dont loose the warranty of 2 years for that cards.  Roll Eyes

But who knows what is there after two years? What if the difficult is way lot and my 145 MH speed is not enough to make most out of it! I think I will do it myself but just before I get started let me know any major precautions that I must take.

This page has everything you need to know: https://xmr.suprnova.cc/index.php?page=gettingstarted

I am using Ethos and mining Monero.
When you are ready to switch, contact me and I will be happy to assist you.

Hello,

I too am using ethOs and am currently earning a 0.33 ETH/month. Is it worth switching to monero? If so, why not on Ethos?I could really use the info.i was thinking of switching to something else.

I did some research on switching but it seems that I am out of option due to few facts that I dont want go ahead. For example, my hash rate is around 145 MH/s because I have not overclocked my device and doing so might invalidate the warranty of seller. So im not doing that for sure.

When I searched for switching to Monero then I came to know that I will have to do the dual mining. So on ethOS at least we will have to run ETH mining along with Monero. This will kill the profits anyway. Thats just my own research but we do need conclusions on these!

AFAIK Overclocking on MSI afterburner is safe, they are way intended to that purpose with its GPU's reasonable limits, so warranty is safe

unless you would do it thru modding as you are already doing a bypass procedure

When i First started GPU Mining i did the same thing, Hooked everything up and then started tweaking, Until i Bios modded did life get easier for me as a GPU Miner, Get all those cards Bios modded! You are losing allot of money now, even more if you had to pay for the cost of electricity.
