Gambling portrayed negatively because of the main reason gambling can have a negative effect to the person involved. And also I think gambling can lead a person to be addicted,greedy and some will commit crimes just to get a money to feed their addiction.

Yeah you are right. Most of the gamblers are also criminals. I am talking about online gamblers but traditional gamblers can do any illegal activity to get some money and gamble with that money. There are many other reasons that people portrayed gambling as a worst thing in the world. I am also against gambling no matter online or traditional gambling.

Not all gamblers are criminals you could say some gamblers are criminals others just cry or grieve but most are able to get them back on track. They do suffer a lot for the initial years but later on they are finally financially strong and assure them that they will never gamble again.

It's not all about the religion. Everyone knows the consequences of gambling that's why it is portrayed negatively all over the world. In many countries gambling is prohibited. If the police raid, they will be arrested and put into jail. Their family members even do not want them to be out of the jail. Don’t compare it with trading, there is a huge difference. In trading you have variety of options to minimize your loss but in gambling you don’t have a choice.

Actually, we do not see the bright side  to this. If you read he responses in this thread, most of the people had overcome their addiction and are doing good in their life now. So loss due to gambling actually acted as a driving force for them. That wasting of money is actually one thing that gambling will always be known for. The thing is that almost every gambler want to win, but higher percentage of gamblers lose with just very tiny percentage winning most of the time.

It is not always portrayed bad tho. There are a lot of games that shows gamblers as the better part versus the casinos. There a lot of movies like 21, like oceans (even tho its about the thiefs and not gamblers its still against the casino owners) like rain man etc etc where people are shown as the protoganist and not the bad guys. Gamblers who are obsessed to get money easily through gambling will usually not be concerned about the risks they might get in the future. The one thing that will keep him going is the dream of getting rich with little effort. They forget that with such habits they can get such deep regret. Yes, do gamble once a week will be better than doing it daily. But if it is possible, not doing it at all will be the best!

And these beliefs that has been passed for generations believed that gambling was always negative and it will never bring good to the people. Bullshit government doesn't make shit from most of the gambling activities, only some states in USA has legalised gambling but in majority of the world there are unregulated sites which is one reason why house edge for gambling sites are so low as they don't have to share anything with the government
