Your private keys might be stolen using phishing sites, and you could have saved your money when you have installed metamask extension in the first place.Buy some hardwallets and im sure you are going to be secured, you dont need to worry about these phishing sites, viruses and malwares in your computer because hardwallets has extra layer of protection.

Not going to happen when you have installed metamask extension, probably phishing sites got your private keys! did you logged in into some exchange lately? that requires private keys to sync your wallet? if you did it,surely it is phishing sites.Which is why i am not going o remove metamask extension as it is encrypting those private keys when you re using fork and etherdelta or other dex.

You might be a victim of phishing attacks, did you get some email links then you have required to relogin your account? mew address or private keys? or did you use dex or decentralized exchanges  lately? if you did did you use metamask extension? or do you have any hardwallets? these are just the basic things that you should have so that you will be well protected.

do you use metamask?
have you Ever entered your private key in any other site other than myetherwallet?(could still be a fake mew)
but you might have yourself to blame if you entered your private key somewhere in order to gain tokens.

did you have an encrypted file or did you enter it in plain text?

I suggest to anyone that isn't super good with their computer security, invest in a hardware wallet.
it really takes away all worry. $8000, put 0.2% into a hardware wallet and this wouldn't have happened  Undecided

You shouldnt be getting hacked, because if you have installed metamas,or atleast use a hardwallet you wont be hacked, because these wallet has built in private keys which is why it is unbreakable and its security has been trusted by the community for years. You should protect the private keys just like what you are doing with your password.

There must definately be an issue somewhere, otherwise, the hacker couldnt have had access to your account. Maybe you entered your private key into a phishing site, or someone closer to you, had access to them. But right now, there is nothing you can do about it.

You should have done your part, protecting your keys, you could have used a hardwallet so that there will be no chance for these computer viruses and malwares to infect your computer,or alteast you could have installed the metmask extension which protects your browser from accessing phishing and malicious websites so you wont be fooled by these hackers.

Phishing sites of course, the hacker wont know his keys not unless he save it in his computer,or some email addresses because these hackers can do everything,no system is safe which is why sooner or later someone might crack the cryptocurrencies. He could use metamask extension to block those phishing sites,or he could use some hardwallets.

My ETH account got hacked.
My ETH address: 0xeA93c05EEbfb134951B1bFac10358625B7A12C43

I did bounty and collected tokens from 29 ICOs. I kept them so when the price increased then I will sell them.

But a hacker stole my account.

Hacker's ETH address: 0x405e23ddfdc59e847cbf6f953d0115ed2ae96a8e

I kept everything secure and nobody knew my private key. Dont know how I got hacked.

Is there a way to identify the hacker from that address?

And can I do anything to get my ETH & tokens back?

And looks like he is still hacking other accounts.

I thought you were logged into a phishing website and you entered privatekey / jason into the link so that what was in your wallet was stolen. But I also do not really know if your wallet is really hacked ?? Huh

What a big problem. I think you got nothing to do. You can even save your privacy (secret keys) then how can you recover this, I believe there is no way to get the funds back

The possible thing to be happened with OP is getting trap into the fake site and malware. Metamas already released extension to the chrome to give filer to the scam or suspicious site.
If the amount was in the MEW wallet and it's not possible to use email as a way to get the privatekey. The only possible thing to send the suspicious link.

It cant be steal if you are protecting your keys, you could have login or put your privatekeys in some safe place that no one but you have access, you could have installed metamask extension because it is encrypting the privatekeys of your wallet whenever you are trying to trade in decentalized exchanges, because you wont need to manually put your private keys to these websites when you are using metamask.

That's sad to know... specially when a proper user got tricked by uncosiderate hackers. Know that crypto uses blockchain technology and usually, once the transaction is successful, there is no way to get it back what ever you do. Another thing is that the anonymity of user also applies to transactions thats why you cant chase after the hacker... just sad.

Maybe he click links because its really not possible to be hacked by just doing nothing.
Let's be more careful next time since a lot of phishing site out there and if you just not taking any reviews about the link for sure you will become the new victim.

This is very sad. Sometimes its difficult imaging how someone will just take over another person's money which he has worked tiredlessly to achieve. Sorry to say that there is nothing you can do about the coins that are gone. But just create a new account and transfer the others there.

There's no other ways to recover the hacked wallet. It is a must to be careful in every links you are entering a lot of frauds, hacking attack or phishing website. I think op are one of a victim of phishing links where he open his etherwallet. This is really a sad happen $8000 worth of eth stolen is a huge of amount so better next time to save into a secured wallet.

There are few possibilities, one phishing sites,or phishing email addresses, they could have targeted your emails when you are joining airdrops, that is why it is better to use dummy emails,so to prevent this from happening again you should have install metamask extension so if you are using decentralized exchanges you wont need to put your keys because these exchanges shouldnt be trusted.

You cant track who stole your coins, and you can get it back! its your fault not ours if you could have some good hardwallet or atleast metamask extension installed you wont be hacked easily as these two basic things are enough to protect you from phishing sites and malware and viruses from your infected computer, and you still wont need to worry about your keys.
