So, I've been busy reporting quite a few posts in the Altcoin Discussion section and there's something really irritating about the current report system. [reference]

You cannot see whether you have reported a post before. Would it be possible to disable reporting on a particular post, once you have already reported it?
To be clear, just disable reporting for users who have already reported a particular post.

Have been using the search function + Google to check if this had been asked before, but didn't find any topics.

Also interested in hearing from people who report a lot, how they avoid accidentally reporting topics multiple times... Vod? Flying Hellfish? rickbig41? etc.

I do felt the same.

If there is a report page for "Report to moderator" feature then we can easily see which reported post were taken in consideration.

I also get confused when I see 100% never changed for me.

I wouldn't be worried about that, it just means that you're doing a good job!

Do you want to see some kind of queuing system? Where if you click the "report to moderator" button you will be transferred to a page where you can report new posts and will see all your reported posts queued in a list which after the moderator has reviewed the post it can go to either the accepted reported post or denied reported posts. With this system you will see what posts have you reported as well as what of  your reported post is accepted or denied.

It will be more detailed compared to your Merit Received and Merit Sent History as it involve 3 lists and also has the report the current post option. Having the history of all your reported posts is a nice addition to the function. I think this will be a sufficient solution to avoid reporting the same post again.

I wish I had a bitchin good answer for you mate LOL, I don't!

I'd be very surprised if I had never reported something more than once.  I tried to avoid it but I assume it has happened.  Because I couldn't track it easily I did my best to avoid it and let the chips fall where they may so to speak.

I don't particularly find that to be a huge issue, but I suppose if it does turn out to be simple to implement, then why not?  Could come in handy.

My only small complaint is the way it takes you back to page 1 of whichever forum you're in once you press the "submit" button.  It seems like it would flow better to be taken back to the thread itself.  Or, an alternative solution would be to open it as a new window/tab like +Merit does.  That way, you can carry on reading where you left off.

He doesnt worry about it. He just bragged about it. Lol

Wait! wait!! No!!!  Huh

In my case I have noticed if I report a post the percentage does not change at all. Once we report something I assume immediately it does not calculate the percentage of  accuracy. Once a moderator examine it and mark it right then it ads up to the accuracy percentage, right? In that case everything seeing 100% accuracy is a bit confusing.

I would be less confuse if I would see the same thing like this:

Number of accepted post / number of reported post with x% accuracy.
i.e: 33/33 with 100% accuracy

Hope I made it clear LOL

I guess you nailed it  Cheesy

It's not a big issue at all. Minor obviously.

I *think* it only decreases if the moderator marked it as an incorrect report. So it is not immediately calculated but a new report waiting to be handled doesn't change the accuracy rating. Many reports go unhandled because they don't have enough resources but they don't affect your accuracy score. After you have made more than 100 reports then you would have to have more than 1 bad report to see the 100% disappear.

I always encounter this problem because if I am looking at past reples on a thread then after reporting a particular post it's hard to get back to the same page of that thread. To overcome this I use Ctrl + Click on the Report button, it opens up the report page in new tab.

I would like to know, whether reporting same post by different users help the mods in any way ? Like does it get high priority or just shows up as redundant reported post ?
If it's the second case, then it's much better to display if the particular post has already been reported by other member to avoid wasting mods' time.

Another feature would be to know which of the reported posts caused one's accuracy to drop. Because in my case with 430 reported posts and 98% accuracy I would like to know those 2% posts (9 posts) which were reported incorrectly by me so as to save the time of mods in the future.

I don't report much but I have a text file to keep track which post I've reported Tongue
yes, I think theymos needs to improve the report system to avoid duplicate reports by a single reporter
simple report scoring system is sufficient, as a post get reported by more users it goes up in report priority list
that should reduced accidental double reports and speed up mods work to check based on priority

Yeah I was also thinking of storing the titles of threads I've reported, but it seems a little bit unhandy to switch to a Google doc the entire time.

I was thinking some more about suggesting new features in general and that reminded me of something..
Isn't there a new version of this forum or something? These suggestions might all be redundant if Bitcointalk is going to upgrade soon?

Didn't find an ETA though...

It has been Coming SoonTM for as long as anyone can remember. There's a sub-board for the new forum software https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0

If you find an ETA that hasn't already passed it would be wise to completely ignore it.

But making suggestions on that board might still be a good idea.
