Hi there! I'm wondering if there is any available mechanism or process for requesting to be given access to an abandoned account? I'm wondering this on behalf of an abandoned altcoin that the community has taken over. We plan to Re-ANN the coin, but it would be way better just to correct and take over management of the existing ANN, thereby reducing the clutter on btctalk. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

FWIW, I wouldn't want to have an account on a forum where admins would reassign accounts to third parties who would happen to want them.

It would be much better to just create a new ANN thread, considering tens of new coins' ann threads get posted nonetheless.
You may comment on the previous thread with BIG text to draw users attention to redirect them to new thread.
Lastly you may request the moderators to lock the previous topic, but I believe that this may not happen considering how busy they already are.

There's none.

The only possible way:

- OP of that thread should make a request (to admins) regarding the transfer of the thread (to you), it will be as if you were the one that created the thread.

Since you mentioned "abandoned account", you should forget it (the whole idea).
