Hi,

Two days ago a friend tried to deposit BTC on his Cryptopia account from a Kraken account. He generated an adress in Cryptopia to deposit the BTC, which he used in his Kraken account.
The amount doesn't show up in his Cryptopia account however and when he tries to do it again a different address is generated.

I checked the address to which he made the deposit on https://www.[Suspicious link removed]/ and the amount is definitely on that address. Is there anybody who can help us with this issue please?

Thx
Sven

If you are absolutely sure that you sent the coins to the correct address as provided by Cryptopia, and you can see that the transaction has multiple confirmations, then the only people that can help to credit the coins to his account are Cryptopia themselves. You should visit their support page at https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Usersupport.

Is your friend sure the address got generated and shown by cryptopia?
Can you tell your friend to verify the website he used (non-malicious, original website?)
And are you sure there is no clipping malware installed?
Did he try to copy/paste an address?

For example, try to copy this address: 1JaTmUSZEdYubYuR7SKEH1Y8PgmDM2FtHc and paste it into notepad.
Does it work properly?

If he used the correct website and has no clipping malware on his PC, the support is the only one who can help with this problem.

You must share with us the bitcoin address from cryptopia where you send his bitcoin.

Since you mention that cryptopia generated a new address so it means this is not a kraken issue.

Could you give us TXID or transaction ID of your friend so that we can identify if what are the issues?

The other might be the reason he put all of his balance from cryptopia to dust the button looks like a trashcan in cryptopia balances.

and also I heard many people complain about the service of kraken like someone experience that their funds stole from their own kraken account.

So try to contact the kraken support about his issue and ask for TXID you can check your TXID in blockchain.info and you will see if they send your bitcoin to the exact bitcoin address from cryptopia.

This type of incident has happened to me sometime then I used to contact the support of that exchange. Very usually shot out the problem but if they do not have you and you do not have any Access to those funds. You can take some additional steps in order to be safe from this you can transfer your coins into your wallet and then transfer it to another exchange in that sense you will have some extra control or some extra recovery controls from an exchange by contacting the support.

That's weird. There's only one deposit address for each coin/token per account in cryptopia and no option to generate a new address. The exchange also make an announcement whenever there will be a change in deposit addresses and it will be applied to all users.

If he searched BTC, other coins such as BTCS, BTCD, LBTC will show up as well. You're friend have to checked again if he uses the correct BTC address for the deposit. If correct and the transaction was already confirmed by the network, but still not show up in the balance, contact the support at https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/UserSupport

The best thing to do is to contact support asap to notify them of this issue.

If you can confirm that Kraken has sent the amount and it's confirmed on that end, then it's definitely something on cryptopia's end that was not done right. I think that as jhenfelipe said, since there is only one deposit address on cryptopia per coin and you can't change it yourself, your friend *probably* deposited to the wrong coin's address. There are numerous bitcoin forks that are being traded, and they all have similar addresses.

You should check through all those coins with BTC in its name to see if he accidentally deposited to any of these addresses. Just copy their deposit address and search it up on a block explorer to see if any funds have went there or not. But again, let Cryptopia support know first, because even if you find which wallet you sent the funds to you'll require their assistance. Or, it could be something else entirely that is out of your control.
