For me this is not really surprising, I mean we had now really bad months and of course somehow it must start growing again.
To be honest I see now no real reason why it started to rise. - but of course it can continue ;P

Probably because people were expecting bitcoin to drop more in price, some posts even say that it will drop to $5000; but instead, we get a price increase to $8500. I'm not saying that we still can't go lower though, might just be another deadcat bounce. But no one knows in the end anyways, wait it out and time will tell.

It wasn't surprising at all but maybe most people got too excited because of the last few months bitcoins price was so low and in a small span of time it grew like almost $2k higher. And people thought bitcoin was going to drop its price down more, so you really can't blame how they reacted when it suddenly increased.

Such sudden growth was surprising because no one anticipated the market to grow back like this. We all expect market to grow in a stable way, for example by a few percentage points every year. When such a sudden jump is scene, people begin suspecting that a pump is taking place at the back end and a dump might follow soon. Hence, people get befuddled. If bitcoin can continue growing at this rate then the day is not far when we would see it surging to 20k$ again.

I think looking at the crypto markets in general, there's a birds-eye view of how Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are performing. Considering the last weeks bump in price and the price jump since 2-3 days ago, we're noticing a trend that looks to be bringing in the "Bull run" causing altcoins to rise by a large percentage, where as Bitcoin is still slowly making it way out of the Bear markets. The surprising factor here isn't about the previous weeks rise, but is as to even with a large trading volume we're noticing a small percentage increase in Bitcoin's price as compared to the altcoins. This isn't necessarily a worrying factor as it's just start of Q2 of 2018. We should mostly be seeing a back to back weekly increase in the price of Bitcoin over the next couple of months.

It is not at all surprising keeping in mid the recent announcement we have had from people like Soros. I expect prices to skyrocket in coming days.

Everyone was expecting bitcoin to go further down, and that is usually when it does the opposite.

The jump in price was so magical but I tell you guys, bitcoin might hit it's all time highest point by the end of this year.  It won't surprise me at all if bitcoin hits $15000 this year.

It's only surprising because a massive amount of people were shorting bitcoin, calling it the end of the currency and it was going towards a MASSIVE downwards trajectory. But then boom, the bulls take back control, and the market starts going the opposite way with massive amounts of money coming in. Peoples portfolios are finally starting to recover for the people who bought at ATH's or on the way down from it.

So yeah, surprising because everyone else was saying that bitcoin was going to die -- and it's not going to.

No one expected the rise due to the slump we've been in the past couple weeks. Also, there were no signs that a push would happen  and everyone expected that the seemingly lifeless nature of the price would still continue for weeks. It really is surprising, considering that everyone thought that the formation of a bearish pennant just a week ago would send us under $6k but lo and behold, we steep rise happened and everyone has their jaws wide-opened. All signals and analyses that I came across tackled about the price leaving $6k downwards but the opposite happened. It really is suprising.

Surprise ? Why? Did you expect the price to always fall? It was normal and every one was waiting for it. Nothing unusual or surprising has happened.
Rising from 7000 dollar to 8000 dollar is 14 percent rise. It has happened several times.

According to the charts the price would indeed rise to $8500 if a bearish to bullish reversal would happen. So now the price can even go to 12K soon. At the end of the year bitcoin could reach 20K again.

Bitcoin is always expected to pump, it has already reach a good peak and there is no denying that the price woukd be recovered again. Seeing hiw tge track is now going, I could say that pumping have started already and ut might actually continue. Ivr been buying coins since tgen specially during those downfall of price. But on the other hand, there is no assurance where thr price will go, so  it doesn't mean that tge price is always going to be on top. Dropping of price is a normal thing.

Most of the people were expecting price leaps and pump, but it came in early than they expected. So, basically that would be one of the reason why some are surprised. Another reason was the huge dip that would go below $3,000 as per predition of TA's , but I think it will never gonna happen, since the market are gradually comming back on track.

This coindesk analyst is the same one that was predicting that BTC will probably break the resistance and go upwards above, possibly towards 15k USD, and right when he posted that the price tanked. Just read the comments. That's how good of an analyst he is, so I wouldn't base any real decisions on his articles.

I think the downward trend of the cryptocurrency market has stopped and it is hard to bitcoin to fall below $ 7k during this time. Get your own home in this market because the masses often do not win the financial market.

Its because there's no positive news that will really push the price from $6K-$7K levels in short amount of time. Frankly, I was surprised at all and I try to look at every news so see what might seems to influence the sudden jump.

Maybe there's no single contributory factor to the sudden pump but its good thing that the increase is sustainable at least at this very moment because it has broken the next mental barrier ($8500). Maybe the next question would be, will the growth another bull trap or is this a sustainable and the start of a bull run that we all been waiting for?
