I'm wondering if TradeHill will provide some transparency on how the donation is made. I'm interested in donating some bitcoins. Will tradehill convert it to USD immediately and donate to Red Cross? Thanks.

Certainly. The funds aren't currently automatically converted. We would like to add that feature soon. The BTC will be converted at the latest before we cut the check. Our system tracks the donations and when it gets large enough we send it. Most likely we will send checks monthly. It was intended as a way to send the change left in your account as well as larger donations. Hopefully all the change will eventually add up to a big donation.

We're happy to post a receipt from the check we send when it goes out. This goes for the EFF donation as well.

Thank you to everyone who has donated.

I tried donating a small amount of USD to red cross yesterday. Today the status still shows as "In Process", so what does it mean?

It's not set to automatically approve. We don't get a lot of donations so we're observing it as it comes in and "approving" your donations. We want to gauge if it's actually getting used. It looks like it is but not being flooded which is fine too.

We'll go through and approve it soon.

Thanks,

Jered
