Yes; you'll have to stick around and make a few posts in this section until you're a Jr. member.

Please read the newbie readme. There's a reason it's called a readme https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177133.0 You have to wait for 4 hours and make a post.

Feeling generous? Like my post? Leave a tip at BTC: 1NZJ8cceqEiKDZGAJged2vNGCyfFMUEYPt

I am realizing the importance of making 10 post before we're allowed to promote signature files here. THE SIFTING PROCESS WORKS!

I've just joined as well and was wondering why I couldn't post, now I know why. Bit annoying but I guess it makes sense to stop the spammers.

Also, to those wondering, the more you post the less the timelimit between posting.

The 360 seconds between posts is more annoying because it triggers from about anything.  Undecided

The time limit segment between posts does decrease with more posts and activity btw.

I guess i'll join this thread considering i'm waiting to get out of the newbies section, and according to the README i need to be posting something of substantial length. Its a bit frustrating considering I just want to make it into the "general discussion thread"  to ask a security question, but I can see how this limitation could be necessary to keep the spam limited to the newbies section only.

Alright then. Hopefully this has been substantial enough to get out of here.

Hi, another newbie chiming in. I joined because of a post I found and would like to PM the author. While joining and going on a quick tour I found out how informative this site is. I understand the need for the newbie rules so that's cool. A word of advice for other newbies.. this is the second time I wrote this post because of the "360" second rule. I'm still figuring that out but I'm going to wait a few minutes and copy this before I post just so I don't lose it like the first time. Good luck to you all on your Bitcoining!

you just need to make some posts in newbie, and wait a couple of hours. Then you can post everywhere
