What I have noticed is that people who can handle drops in price and profitability are consistently able to profit. It is important to look long-term when mining, or you will find yourself antsy and unable to succeed.

Depends on the miner, but with 5-minutes of research on any GPU you will find out how profitable it is and exactly what your limitations and expectations in many areas will be. There is good opportunities for profit in the market.
